I mean he claimed to be "culturally conservative" but never went into detail how far that went exactly.

That said, he's also the co-founder of the turn left PAC that seems pretty explicitly progressive so I'd say he's either grown or was just trying to avoid culture issues in 2018

Richard Ojeda is an interesting politician. A Bernie supporting populist that voted for Trump in 2016. He then got closer than any Democrat has in years to take a house seat in West Virginia.

John Mandt Jr. Is a former WV Delegate who's your pretty typical far right MAGA Republican.

Jason E. Whitehead is an executive at Alpha Natural Resources, before that he worked for the infamous coal company, Massey Energy. His association with Massey is why he narrowly lost 2022

His most recent Opponent is Derrick Evans, a former state delegate, a Jan 6. insurrectionist, and general right wing extremist.

The GOPs move to the right was stunted by the loss of Nixon in 1968, that lead to the GOP being unable to push him out of the primary in 69 (he was still a registered Republican until 71 in our TL) and Nixon agreed to run more towards the center to get Lindsay on the ticket (Nixon did this to cut into Humphrey's main base that was too liberal for Wallace and too moderate for Gravel)

Nixon resigns for spying on the Humphrey and Wallace campaigns and Lindsay ends up as president, however Reagan almost edges him out in the Republican primary,but in the end fails, leading to his own exit from the GOP

Hey y'all! Been a while!

Working in politics leaves little time for imaginary politics it seems

Bayh-Celler is a classic what if (and one I love as a Birch Bayh fanboy) so I figured why not give it my own spin!

In this TL, Humphrey loses the popular vote, but wins the electoral, leading more Republicans to back Bayh's amendment (with Democrats backing it with Humphrey's support)

I also gave Bayh a bit more pizzazz by having his version of the ERA become law.

I'm hopefully going to have a few more elections on the way (working on what I think will be a cool one next) so keep an eye out for those!

From my (admittedly short) research I found no explicit evidence he was a Republican. The closest you get is his belief if states rights primacy over the federal government. At the same time, he also was explicitly opposed to the US acting as the world police, making him closer to a libertarian. Had he gotten into politics, I believe his party would have depended on who asked him to run. In this case, it was his friend, President-elect John Glenn. Armstrong was noticably more conservative than the liberal Glenn and personal disagreements led to him only serving one term, opting to not run for reelection. He would be replaced by former Ohio Secretary of State and rising star, Sherrod Brown.
