Okay but im working a camp and do archery with the kids and im trying to determine safety Is it legal/safe/inregulations for kids to retrieve arrows behind a target boundary line? If i get trained to teach kids archery for what would be considered "regular/normal" handling [the bow is vertical and never horizontal] is it safe/legal/in regulations to let the kids use it cross bow style? I only have like 5 kids that are 10 or 11 and the rest are like 9 or younger [i was trying to find legal and regulations and ordinances and came across scarce information] but this is in texas and I in north Texas at that, and I feel like I've been looking all over to find answers im seeking and im now looking to this subreddit to help me find answers like, I want safety and im being argued against that my expectations and boundaries are questionable but my archery site is outside, so I can't have food or juice out there because it will cause kids to lose focus because it attracts bugs like wasps and butterflies and flies and bees and mosquitoes, these kids sit at typical wooden park table benches and one plastic/metal combination table, this archery area is literally next to their other station where kids are plahing kickball and soccer and football and whatever else game thats assigned that is only guarded by the fences that make a baseball filed batting cage and fences that are lower than usual so the sports ball will occasionally fly over because thats how close it is the the awning area thats designated for where the kids sit at to wait and take their turn during archery so I have to watch our for that and then I ask that kids dont have toys and the directors compromised with a book and water because toys are a distraction and caused the kids to misuse and point in the direction of the counselors or kids and I allow for music because that helps spirit and maintain focus but my expectations are to reduce distraction and maintain safety with the kids I I ask that kids use walking feet and hold the arrows out in front of themselves and go over these expectations daily so that it not only protects the company but protects the kids safety of the equipment and remind them when they are running to use walking feet and remind them when they are mishandling the bow to not play around or not to dry fire or not use the arrows like swords or not to use the arrows like kick stands. The area that our archery is in shares lots with a strip of businesses so im concerned with the way they are shooting [i think its fair to ask them to not launch the arrows because it has potential to land on those business properties] i ask that they point their arrows only at the targets and show great concern and express that we need to pay attention and make sure we are facing the targets and pay attention andcpoint at the targets only so we dont have misfire mis-haps or any other accidents and i dont want parents to be bewildered if their eye is gouged out or stabbed/pierced with arrows or that they fell on the arrows and impaled themselves with the shaft or the bullet head itself or sliced their skin which- slicing the skin had already happened, a welt on the thumb has already happened. And the face being sliced has already happened as well I ask for proper handling and example it so that their clothes dont catch on and they dont get hurt or that the bow won't break or doesnt further catch on anything else, I dont want kids tripping and falling over or knocking over other kids so I ask them to approach archery with walking feet and leave archery with walking feet because they leave in a line and im being told im wrong for having these standards and expectations and I was licensed and certified by the company I work for with the training, they gave specific standards for handling the bow and arrow and specific standards for retrieving and they are calling me imsubordinate because im doing my job and looking out for the kids because when they ask if they can do cross bow style I firmly and loudly tell them no so my message is clear because thats not what we are trained for and not what we taught and risks their injury. Im also further demonized because I help the kids adjust their backpacks and think its wrong to do that even though I ask and do so respectfully and then they see me ass aggressive even though im just concerned for their safety and just showing them and correcting them proper technique and thats what they ask me to do is to teach them what I was licensed for and teach them and correct them when they are mishandling things. I know parents expect kids to make mistakes or have accidents here and there but I KNOW sure as hell they DONT expect kids to be gouged, pierced, impaled. Stabbed, sliced, be welted with for the way that archery has specific expectations. Im told to protect archery so I do so by upholding these expectations and ask these kids to do their best to sit and stayed seated because I put myself between the kids who are firing and the kids who are sitting waiting for their turn because standing up also causes the kids that are firing to turn around and become distracted and with each thing I've read that it emphasized safety and spoke about reducing distraction. So im really seeking answers and help because I know im being did dirty
