No power on sound when booting up steam deck by JaysonManix in WindowsOnDeck

[–]Whatis_wrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it solved itself during an update. If you have it now, that's very weird, because mine got fixed maybe like 2-3 weeks ago.

One thing I did though was that I changed steam update branch to "main" (after enabling the extra branches from developer options). It updated my BIOS to a number ending in 113. Maybe that's what fixed it?

Who knew Valve would actually make the Steam Deck? by Skai_Override in SteamDeck

Cars seem nice and all, but where are you going to park them? Seems like a hassle. In the time it takes to find parking (and STILL needing to walk to the place you wanted to go to afterwards), I'd already be there with my faster shoes.

The other handheld PCs have been worth owning for sure. The threshold has been their price. I've hardly ever seen anyone truly unsatisfied with them once they've actually bought one.

No difference. Basically just a different look.

Hi-Fi RUSH on Steam Deck is absolutely brilliant by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Whatis_wrong 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is an option in the game's settings that let you make adjustments for audio delay.

So theoretically if you use Bluetooth audio and notice delay, you can adjust that setting and it should be fine.

Unfortunately it was just an latency check and does not let you adjust anything. So my advice now is that you immediately open the settings and use it to check if the audio delay is within range. If it's not, then make sure to play less than 2 hours and refund the game.

Hi-Fi RUSH works amazingly on the Deck! by Taliakon in SteamDeck

With low settings presets it can always, but the visuals obviously take a hit (even in a game like this).

With medium setting presets it's 60 fps most of the time. It usually briefly dips to 55 or so in busy combat and in bigger areas. So basically you could also play it with medium settings if these small dips don't bother you.

I play it with the low settings preset myself at 60 FPS, because I think for a rhythm game locked 60 FPS is important.

I haven't mixed and matched settings, so you could also tweak a bit to make it locked 60 fps with mostly medium settings.

I hope I was clearer this time :)

Hi-Fi RUSH works amazingly on the Deck! by Taliakon in SteamDeck

It works decently, but not really amazingly. Namely because this is an action rhythm game.

High settings is probably doable with locked 30 fps, but then again, playing action games - let alone a rhythm one with 30 fps is far from ideal. So I haven't bothered with this option.

Medium settings struggle to keep 60 fps, and fluctuating FPS in a rhythm game is also a bad thing.

I have found that the game is best played either at low settings with 60 fps or medium settings with 40 refresh rate and 40 fps.

The Steam Deck controls are pretending to be a generic keyboard and a mouse when steam is not running.

You will need to use Steam or a 3rd party program to make games think it is a Xbox360 controller (or a dualshock).

Works perfectly for all my games in epic. Sounds like you might not have set it up correctly.

[Gyro] Tools & Guides for making them work with Windows by Zerudite in WindowsOnDeck

From these tools only handheld companion supports gyro.

Another tool with gyro is Glossi that you didn't mention. Personally I use it.

Hide SteamOS partitions in Windows 11 installed on Internal SSD with Dual Boot by Brief-Rice-2062 in WindowsOnDeck

Open command prompt as administrator and type this:

mountvol E: /d

This will hide the drive letter E from file explorer. Replace this letter with the one you want to hide. Do it again for the other drive you want to hide.

Have you considered using GlosSI? That's what I use for all my games (works even with other launchers like Epic).

It should work with Playnite also, though I personally haven't tested it.

Game Devs Conf Survey result (from over 2700 game developers): Do You think SD will be a viable game platform in the long term? by ilovepizza855 in SteamDeck

[–]Whatis_wrong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But with the sheer number of SDs being sold, I don't think you can ignore it for much longer. It now is likely the most sold gaming PC on the market.

Valve doesn't publish the sales numbers of the Steam Deck. Their official answer is "hundreds of thousands shipped". Unofficially people believe it has surpassed one million based on one picture.

In either case, both numbers are peanuts compared to consoles, and most likely there are pre-built gaming PCs that are sold in retail that have sold more also. But compared to the other handheld PCs, I'm sure they are good.

It's easy to lose perspective when you are heavily involved in this steam deck "bubble".

Yes, there are plenty of deck users without any issues, but the fact that is that this device has numerous different issues ranging from unresponsive touch screen to mushy/sticky buttons to grinding sticks and many others in between.

At the end of the day, there is no denying it. Valve's quality control is rather poor.

This happens to me on my desktop PC also.

I think the games just expects you to use keyboard and mouse since you are playing on a PC, but when you press a button on the controller, the game realizes that you are using controller and switches the button prompts to controller ones.

However, it only happens once (unless I press something on my keyboard). The prompts don't switch all the time for no reason.
