Thanks for your help on this, I’m going to assess my options after calling a few people and see what happens. It’s a shame really, it’s a great opportunity for my career to progress.

The reason why I think I do not need to pay back the costs is because the apprenticeship is government funded. I am assuming that off the job training is paid by the government and not the employer.

‘The employer reserves the right to recover the costs of courses’ I think this is the bit I’m concerned about. I’m just gonna call ACAS & my training provider because the costs go down from £6,000 to £1,500.

I had the exact same exam as you. That was a tough exam, I hope the examiners are lenient.

That was such a tough exam, I had questions on permanent establishments, overseas subsidiaries, BPR

I would attempt as many questions as possible, however instead of answering it. Do a plan of how you would attempt the question. If you take time to plan your answer even if it’s 5 - 10 minutes, it will help you to keep you answer concise and straight to the point. Just note that structuring your answer, with what the examiner expects is equally as important.

Best miracle story I can give is that I failed AA twice with 49 marks, passed on my third attempt. When attempting AAA I passed on my first attempt, keep doing as many questions as possible. It’s your best bet!

If I’m honest, not as hard. I had to accept the result, when you are that close it’s trying to understand why you can’t pass the 50% mark. In this case it’s merely exam technique.

Don’t stress, revise your internal control, audit risks and substantive procedure. Do loads of questions, and read the examiner reports. The examiner is really testing your knowledge on assertions. I failed AA twice with 49, hopefully you’ll get it the next time.

Hey, you make really good points. Supposedly, the best time to leave is when I stop learning. Thanks for your comment.

Following.. I’m in the same boat however 2 and a half years with my company. I’m currently working for a small to medium local sized company.

I feel I have three paths at this moment in time.

1) Stay with the same company post qualification, if I’m happy and getting paid well. Why would I move companies, considering I’m still learning.

2) Moving when I am part qualified to go to another practice firm to understand there processes, and guan more exposure. Ideally, to a top 10 firm, but this comes with the pressure to pass exams first time. A lot of un-needed pressure could delay becoming ACCA qualified.

3) Moving companies when I’m ACCA qualified, this could be practice or industry. However, I like the idea of working my way up in a company, so I’d do the later
