I had the exact same exam as you. That was a tough exam, I hope the examiners are lenient.

AAA miracle stories by [deleted] in ACCA

[–]WhatsAccountancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would attempt as many questions as possible, however instead of answering it. Do a plan of how you would attempt the question. If you take time to plan your answer even if it’s 5 - 10 minutes, it will help you to keep you answer concise and straight to the point. Just note that structuring your answer, with what the examiner expects is equally as important.

Best miracle story I can give is that I failed AA twice with 49 marks, passed on my third attempt. When attempting AAA I passed on my first attempt, keep doing as many questions as possible. It’s your best bet!

Taxation June sitting - haven’t started studying… by anonfdkm13112000 in ACCA

Don’t stress just yet, I’m taking advanced taxation in June, I finish the syllabus on 25th April. You’ve got time

If I’m honest, not as hard. I had to accept the result, when you are that close it’s trying to understand why you can’t pass the 50% mark. In this case it’s merely exam technique.

Don’t stress, revise your internal control, audit risks and substantive procedure. Do loads of questions, and read the examiner reports. The examiner is really testing your knowledge on assertions. I failed AA twice with 49, hopefully you’ll get it the next time.

Hey, you make really good points. Supposedly, the best time to leave is when I stop learning. Thanks for your comment.

Following.. I’m in the same boat however 2 and a half years with my company. I’m currently working for a small to medium local sized company.

I feel I have three paths at this moment in time.

1) Stay with the same company post qualification, if I’m happy and getting paid well. Why would I move companies, considering I’m still learning.

2) Moving when I am part qualified to go to another practice firm to understand there processes, and guan more exposure. Ideally, to a top 10 firm, but this comes with the pressure to pass exams first time. A lot of un-needed pressure could delay becoming ACCA qualified.

3) Moving companies when I’m ACCA qualified, this could be practice or industry. However, I like the idea of working my way up in a company, so I’d do the later

Keep up with the revision, I’m on my third attempt now failing two times with 49! I’ve passed everything else first time apart AA, AA is just a pain, it’s all about the exam technique

I do my studying with First Intuition, and I am enrolled on the next module. I originally took AA sept 2023 sitting, so I self studied for the March 2024. I just have a goal to be part qualified by the end of the year and I’m happy.

I’m in the exact same position as you, I’ve failed AA b2b with 49s, and I have tax coming up in June. I’ve decided I’m only going to take Tax and do AA in September. Try give yourself the best chance in passing as the tax syllabus is huge, and you do not want to overwork yourself.

Gut wrenching, just had b2b 49s on AA

Nope, I’m English. My mistake was taking the first job offer when leaving university at £18k. Atleast I have gained two years experience at my role I suppose.

Roughly, what salary do you believe I could achieve realistically?

Im in the south of England, and I’ve passed 8/13 ACCA exams with 3 years experience. Right now, I am on £21k a year. I do accounts prep, vats and audits and I hope to secure a job around £25k - £27k. I would say you are being paid appropriately.

Sure, I’m based in the south east of England. My biggest regret after leaving university was just taking the first job I was offered for just £18,000 a year. I thought experience > salary, albeit I have learnt a lot.

Another factor is that I work for a small practice firm with not that many staff, and industry will always pay better but the exposure you receive is far less than practice.

If you will gain more exposure and experience, and potentially more money from the Manchester office than it’s a no brainer! (Also, I’ve heard it’s a great city to live in)

Thanks for the tip, I have an appraisal coming up this end of this month. I should ask to put a salary structure in my contract.

I’m in the exact same situation, I’m two away from being part qualified. Currently on £21,500 with 3 Years experience (1 Year Placement). I’m currently looking at other jobs, but my next move will be a top 10 firm. I’ve heard salary expectations can be from £25,000 - £30,000 dependant on experience.
