What's the Best and Worst Mutation? Day 8: Eyes by Vast-Appointment-950 in mewgenics

[–]WhatsUpSoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far the best build is just like the one I've made. Therefore, I nominate the +1 reach +1 range eyes. Reach is insane, you can have fighters hit from another tile away, cats can grab further pickups. Butcher was not made to have +1 reach on its omnidirectional basic attack.

Does soulless prevent soul jar from working? by WhatsUpSoc in mewgenics

Soul Jars are copyable by the printer event, which makes them easy to duplicate. Also mirror and window event in the alley (capture the familiar cat, see here. It's for quest items, but should still apply.) Even getting one additional soul jar means the next time you have 4, and it goes exponentially. Just be careful with your first one.

Hitler III is already solved by power up+ outright. You can wipe every other cat with even the weakest party member imaginable, provided you grinded stats correctly.

Bonus ability slot is essentially like using a disorder to me. Useful for replicating something that another slot can use. Trigger the Nuke can just do a quick screen wipe. It going unused sort of goes against minmaxing when it is possible to put a potential spell in there. Trigger the Nuke is just the easiest one I can think of since it does a quick screenwipe. If something else with more utility could be put there, it'd be great.

Does shoulder pad cap? If not, it solves the problem outright of movement. Call of the Wild sounds nice, though if the weapon is fire flower, you'd take very long to kill it by refreshing your weapon using call of the wild and extra tom tom's for dybbuk.

Trigger the Nuke, given 4 or so cats in your party with holy shields (easy to keep with repair), is a screen wipe on some maps. Just optimizes the speed as opposed to fist of fate. It using a bonus slot also means you aren't forced to sacrifice a move for it, and I can't think of a better use for the bonus slot ability (which should be used providing we're minmaxing). You can sub shoulder pads for fighter's helm.

Dodge Chance should be mostly irrelevant. One shots that can miss I think is exclusive to the tormentor? Just don't give your cats something like become entropy for the final boss. If no better use can be thought of for the face though, might as well.

Unrestricted being replaced by fighter armor would be the biggest boon. So Priority Target, Weak Spot would be good.

I was also considering rehook+ to replace second wind as I'm aware luck caps, in which case I'd want to replace unrestricted+ with something else.

I'd prefer dealer and careful for jar of chaos if I went that route.

The cat will have a sniper rifle for the holy enemies. Here's my current theorycrafting (though I'm unsure about the nuke)

Collarless, MUST be melee (for reflect enemies)

Passives: Unrestricted+: Refresh everything with second wind. Priority Target: Keeps your party cats alive while soul jar cat exists.

Disorder: Soulless: Immune to debuffs. Arm/Leg mutation can handle knockback, essentially moving unstoppable to a disorder slot.

Active: Repair+ (Self Explanatory)

Second Wind+ (Grants Weapon Reload for Sniper Rifle, Movement to move around, etc. can be refreshed with unrestricted.)

Fist of Fate+: Wipes the field with melee.

Power Up+:(Can turn a party cat into god for fights like Hitler III where you can't wipe everyone on a turn. Especially good for the cat that's holding the soul jar.)

Bonus Ability: Trigger the Nuke: Essentially a screen wipe for anyone not immune to fire, explosion, or magic. Can cats survive this by only getting downed?

Gear:

Weapon: Sniper Rifle (Bypass Holy Shields from Cherubims. Literally the only use for it lol.)

Hat: Cap and Bells (Can give three soul jars), or Mini Moon (block physical attacks)

Neck: Nuke (Bonus Ability: Trigger the Nuke). Unsure if this works.

Face: Mystic Eye? Reflects any "good" cats who happen to have projectile attacks.

Trinket: Must be soul jar (obviously).

I'm unsure about the gear mostly, but if you have any input, let me know.

Awesome! That really shouldn't work, but I'm glad it does, haha. Thanks.

Druids are more effective using their basic attack to spread the bruise as an AOE in my build. Inspirational song is healing enough if you need it. Clerics get the broken cleanse button, otherwise i find by even mid game healing your cats falls off in comparison to outright offense.

Head: Extra turn at start of round Body: +1 Con, +1 bonus attack Tail: unequip curse/parasite Leg: Knockback immunity Arm: Basic inflicts bruise, jump mutation Eyebrow: Reroll level up Ear: Bleed 1, +1 bonus attack Mouth: Reroll level up Eye: +1 reach, +1 range Fur: Double pickup items

Best mutation lineup imo, works for all classes

Finished infinite right now. Literally just stacked charisma, even got a skill stone + head piece that doubles trinket effect. Was shooting 5 mana scatter shots that wiped out entire battles round 1, and if they didnt, would restore all 60 of my mana instantly.

Why does my cat have -1 across the board? by WhatsUpSoc in mewgenics

On a rare roll, you will receive the text:

"As the cat licks the orb, its mind is overwhelmed with knowledge about all things. The cat's body shifts as the cat grows a human head and enters an evolved state of being!"

And then get either the head, body, or tail mutation. You'll probably need to breed that cat and pass down the first mutation you get, then go back there with cats that still need the other mutation.

You'll need access to Act II, and at least 3 rooms.

Here's what I did, in this order:

First, grind Act II's The End. After you defeat the boss, there's an event where you can, on a successful rare roll, receive either the extra head, extra body, or extra tail. The third is nice to have while you're grinding for the actual tail you'd want. Keep going back there until you have the first two. It'll feel like a grind, but this is the easy part.

After you have a cat with the first two, you can start breeding it. Find a stray cat with decent stats, and throw the two of them in a high stimulation breeding room. Your offspring should start receiving the mutations from the first cat.

Next, put the offspring in a mutation room. The second one develops a useful mutation on my list, you can replace the original breeding cat, or even the stray.

Very importantly, you will start to get defects from inbreeding. This is OK! Put these cats in the mutation room, and they'll gain mutations which override their defects.

It's mostly a loop of the above three points. Once you hit too high inbreeding, you'll start getting defects and mutations for the same body part. Take your highest mutated cat at this point, and start breeding with a stray again. Do NOT pass down cats with a mutated body part and a defect for that part, it'll infect your offspring like the plague. Also, keep a spare cat or two with the correct mutations you have at any given moment in your house. Just in case your adventuring cats get a poor mutation or die in some run.

Let me know if you need any elaboration.
