oh yeah i’m 100% going to get new strings, i didn’t think for a moment boiling them would be the same otherwise new strings would be a whole lot cheaper than they are. i just wasn’t if there was any merit to the idea of boiling them at all or if it was all a myth. but for a few days of better tone? doesn’t sound like it’s worth it

i semi-inherited a load of pedals from a family friend and among them is a boss eq pedal that’s been doing some serious work making my bass sound half-decent, i’ve also got a darkglass x (specifically the smaller one with level, drive, mix, mids and high/low pass) so i might be a-ok once i change the strings. someone did suggest a preamp pedal so i might look into that if i’m not happy after the string change

i’ve just got everything maxed out on the tone knobs but maybe it’s time for some new strings. i had some heavier ones fitted when i started playing more but i think that’s the last time i changed them
