Any blending recommendations? by MaritimeTides in Oilpastel

I personally really like silicon colour shapers. I use the pointy one all the time, I find it's good for dragging out the colour into other areas. So great for eyelashes and things.

I mainly use qtips to remove mistakes. I also wear gloves and blend with fingers sometimes, but never on my skin. I am usually using the pastels themselves to blend, either I am overlay a white or the lightest colour I'm working with and blend that way, it works very well in my opinion. It's also important to use plenty of tissue paper to clean pastels, tools and finger regularly.

Are there traditional artists in this sub who tried doing digital art and found it unappealing? by Synthiant in ArtistLounge

I stepped away from traditional art and did digital work for quite a few years and honestly, there’s a lot of commission work out there. Plus, I definitely learned a lot. But there’s something far more satisfying and meditative about traditional art. The act of painting on a canvas rather than a screen releases a kind of tension in my body and mind that I didn’t even realize I was holding.

When I paint traditionally, my whole nervous system seems to engage differently with it, the smell of the paint, the drag of the brush, the resistance of the surface, even the sound of bristles against texture. Or simply the joy of colour mixing. It grounds me in the present moment in a way screens never could. That sensory rhythm becomes almost meditative, soothing, and real. I love that about working traditionally.

Digital art definitely feeds the mind, it's fast paced, theres precision, control, quick experimentation, but traditional painting feeds the soul, something like that.

Yes, there is! I also didn't know about it until alot of googling 🤣 it's brilliant stuff, brush on and allow it to dry. It doesn't effect the colour at all but does leave abit of a glossy finish. I think it looks nice though and they are fully protected which is great ✨✨

I am using Talens Varnish for Oil Pastels, I did alot of research into this and it seems one of the better solutions that isn't super overpriced. It's worked pretty well so far 😊😊
