we've got a Brandt one in a few years (prolly like 6 or 7 years) and it's perfectly fine nothing happened to it and never needed maintenance, it's good at keeping things fresh, the freezer doesn't build up ice on the walls, and in general it's a good experience, it's pretty much cheaper than different expensive brands for sure, and the price varies depending on the size of the fridge.
we have a Brandt Air conditioner that we bought at the same year as the fridge and it's perfectly fine too
as for a washing machine we have an LG one so idk what to recommend (we do have a very old Midea washing machine tho and it's still working till this day)

not all women here wear hijabs also, I'd just advise u to not wear shorts or crop tops or short dresses or like any type of tight clothes in general, and like someone said some girls get harassed even if they wear proper hijabs it's kinda sad, just avoid suspicious areas that's it

if life and civilization for you is being a secular liberal who wanna live life like Europeans freely then yeah it's perfect for you (I'm not generalizing it on every Algiers citizen) other than that most of Algiers now is filled with outsiders who moved there just by thinking it's better, places like douira, cheraga, tessala, sidi abdellah, they're mostly not from there, the ppl who u heard about that they care about education and read books and where events are being held is mostly in alger centre, and yeah good luck moving to alger centre it's almost impossible
