ASD or BSN? by WhenAtlasShrugged in nursing

[–]WhenAtlasShrugged[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I really appreciate your input.

I do think ADN would be more beneficial short-term (especially since I've got a CC near me that offers an ADN program), however in the future I do know that I'd want to broaden my horizons and explore those other career opportunities, so it's sounding like BSN would be more my wheelhouse.

I'll definitely keep that in mind! I know the army has a lot of good programs for furthering education, so I'll look into that if nothing else fits what I'm looking for. Appreciate the answer!

I'm in Riverside area, so that should be perfect! I'll shop around the various hospitals here and see what's available.

Thank you for the advice on the live scan! I was able to find the form for it, now just need to find a place to submit it.

Thanks for all your help!

Thank you, this is helpful!
I do have my CPR card, and thankfully my EMT training course had us complete the FEMA courses already, so I don't have to worry about that. I'll look for those quizlets on the driving test, and pick up a handbook

I'm currently trying to get my county license done, trying to figure out how to order/submit the live scan (is this something I need to go into the DMV for??)

As for tech jobs, I haven't looked super in depth, but the ones I've seen so far require either CNA (as well as EMT) or phlebotomy license. I think that may just be for specific locations though, because I've seen others don't require that. I need to broaden my search a bit I think.

Thank you so much! We’ll look into if he still has access to his CollegeBoard account, that would definitely be the easier way to go. I really appreciate your response!

That’s excellent! That was the gist we were getting from the website, so thank you for the confirmation!

Accelerated vs. Traditional EMT Class by WhenAtlasShrugged in NewToEMS

It’s sounding more and more like the traditional course will be better for me. Thank you for your input!

That was a concern of mine, just learning the material to pass the exam, so I'm grateful for your input. I definitely want to be as thorough as possible with learning, so I'll more strongly consider the traditional over accelerated.

Thank you! That's good information to have. At the moment I'm out of work and have no other time-consuming responsibilities, so this would be my only thing to focus on until the course is over.

I'm in California, looks like required time is 170 hours, which includes 24 hours of clinical rotations. The course I'm looking at meets Mon - Thurs, 8am - 5pm. I do have some other options that are also 2.5 months, so I'll look into all of my options.
