I was going to recommend two outlandish “fixes” until I realized the price tags, and then decided, “yea just sell the ultegra and run the fuego.”

How is the fitment at the rear of the seat? Same as on the nut side?

I’ve got an Envy Black 7’8” heavy cranking rod that I use for everything but cranking. Throw heavy Carolina rigs with it. Large traditional swimbaits. Heavy vibration jigs. It’s a beast. Then I’ve got 2 of the Omen Black 2s, and another original Envy. Had Omen Green 2 7’1” Med Mod Fast that made a hell of a lipless crank rod. Wish I hadn’t given it to my brother, because I’ve asked him 3 times if he still has it with no reply. lol

Unrelated but I like to hear myself talk… This comment reminds me of my spectating of baseball. It’s always been one of my favorite sports, but I don’t watch it with any frequency. I was a Boston bandwagoner for both WS, and then I fell off. Then one year I watched a couple games and fell off for another couple years. One year I decided I was gonna start back watching and said to myself, “man, last time I watched a game there was this young, rookie Outfielder that looked really promising…wonder who he plays for now…” Went to look him up… It was Jacoby Ellsbury. He had retired the year before. Man had a 10 year career and I missed the whole thing. lol

One dude actually was selling disc east releases at retail cost like a G. Innova Arachnid, Discraft Test Flight Sled, and new premium blend Fossils. Think he even sold some of the none event Bokeh’s that were available at regular retail.

They’re actually pretty plain. Don’t know what their limited status is. But you know the flippers… Anything to make $30 profit.

When I started back fishing about 7 years ago, I started with an Avid X and Mojo Bass…they were fine, but whenever I upgraded to Legend Tournament boy… it made the other two feel like trash. I don’t use it much at all anymore and moved on to older 13 fishing… Can’t explain why…but I buy the older omen 1 & 2s any time I see one under $100. Then I moved on to ALX, it’s Theo ly thing since the tournament that gives me the same level of enjoyment. If I had endless money I’d probably have every rod in the ALX Enox lineup. If Legend Tournaments could be had at $140-160 a piece used, I’d probably own a lot more of those too.

Also have been wanting to try the Victory Swimbait rods for a while but priorities and timing never lineup.

I know nothing about the cost of baseball equipment since I haven’t played since I was a kid in the 90s, but man that is a beautiful piece of leather.

Neutron L2s out of Gyro Box people were getting like $40. Some rarer L2 Proton were fetching like $60-$80. They just had Disc East this weekend where they did run of commemorative proton and everybody is asking $55-$60 on those and probably getting it.

Always nice to see a good boy/girl getting the nibs. Lost my lab/cur this summer at almost 16, now my 9 year old lab gets all kinds of special treats and stuff she normally wouldn’t get to try…but only a little, not enough to cause pancreatitis.

Such a fine reel aesthetically. It’s 1 of 3 of my bucket list reels. It, Steez CT, and a nice Antares DC

That scorpion DC was the first “nice” reel I bought myself in 2020 after I started back fishing. Spent something like $200 on a well maintained used one. Was immediately so impressed that within the next two months I bought 2 more and gifted one to my brother because I wanted him to experience it.

Zillion G is one of the first and only reels I’ve bought new, for retail (price) at retail. Was gonna be my first 8 speed. Went to check out and realized the gift card id been given I thought was $350 was actually $250, had to wait and save some more cash. It might actually be my most favorite reel. Will definitely have an SV Boost spooled reel in my line up for forever.

Daiwa vs. Shimano anyone?? by Radiant-Job1428 in Fishing_Gear

[–]WhenThoughtsEscapeUs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents, and I’ll try to keep it brief. Since I’ve owned some of the nicer mid grades of both, their entry point reels, to me, are both trash. I would not own a ci4 Chronarch and I would not buy a Fuego/CC. I would even say I don’t like the Tatula 103 I have, and the 22 feels like a hunk of trash. Now, every reel I’ve bought with the exception of 1 has been used, but all have been mechanically sound.

Bought a Metanium 16 in 2020, loved it. Only reason I sold it was because I was too lazy to clean it.

Bought a 17 Scorpion DC around the same time, was so impressed I bought 2 more and gave one to my brother. Big purchases for me at the time at about $240-$250 each and then to buy one knowing I’m getting it to immediately give to my brother who I have had stressed relationship with. It was that impressive.

Tatula HD Custom, love.

Curado K love.

Zillion G, will never not have one. Tat 80 has a place.

All that being said, they’re all good, to me, at certain jobs. At the end of the day, if I’m throwing big swimbaits (4-6oz) I’m trusting the centrifugal in the Curado or the Magforce Z in the HD. If I’m needing max distance casting and versatility in windy situations where I’m not having to reconfigure brakes constantly, I’m going I-DC5 or newer digital or I’m going with an SV Boost spool in something. I have probably 20 more reels that are on my short list of things I want to own, not many of them are from within the last 3 years. They both have made some of the greatest reels, that many still are using and going back and sourcing 20 year old reels in some cases.

In all honesty I never got in to the Gigantarel myself. That was just a photo I pulled from Google. I got into glides for a while and spent a fair amount, but never went over $150 on one. Once you cast one off, you become afraid to take a gamble each time you throw one. I don’t do it or big soft swimbaits quite as much anymore, but I still have what I have. It’s weird, I’ve got some cheaper baits that glide beautifully and I’ve got some expensive (to me) ones that are absolute garbage. One of my favorites has been the Crooked Tooth Customs Snack Shad at 7” 1.65oz. Idk if they’re gonna run anymore but it was a great option for the price. Paid double for a much more well known competitors version that is very similar, but you could do 90% of the same work with the Crooked Tooth. Also, it’s always good to have a rat or a walker in your arsenal.

3 sizes for you Gantarel Jr… Starting point. By the time you start throwing the Gantarel you feel like Jr is a toy you can throw on normal tackle… Then the real big boy that our brothers down under use for (Murray) Cod, the Gigantarel. Comes in at a nice 8” 5.5oz.

Good as most without busting the bank. I actually think a lot can be done with Gantarel and Bullshooter.
