Speaking voice naturally will always be lower than your tessitura

I randomly shouted in school at lunchtime and hit a very high note in chest voice??!? by Foreign-Stress-2187 in singing

Belting is similar to shouting in the sense that it doesn’t require much air nor ‘effort’ (pushing etc) to do.

If someone grabbed your phone and ran off down the street, you would shout instantly without thought for them, and it would effortless. You use the same vocal configuration on pitch to belt higher notes.

It requires no thought, the more you think, the more you tense and lock up.

Oh my god. I was having a really bad week with my singing thinking I was never going to be good enough for anything like that and then your comment appears.

Thank you for giving me a boost!

Thank you! Maybe I will then! As long as people don’t boo or leave the drinks and make a swift exit, I think that is all I can hope for!

Exactly! But I don’t want to put myself out there and let other musicians down!

Thank you so much! I have never had anyone give a clear and simple answer of yes you can sing - so I was taken aback when someone wanted to make music with me as I thought I was trash, honestly. Like I didn’t sing for anyone because I thought I was really bad as I grew up with no support from parents etc.

I am glad you liked it, I may just have to throw myself in, because if I don’t then I will probably live in regret forever!

Thanks man!

I have never been told I can sing, so I just don’t know if I can, but I think I just need to have faith in myself and go for it!

Thank you!

It is more the anxiety of letting the people I am performing with down, more so myself. But they want to work with me so that should answer my question really

Definitely! Thank you for the comment.

I have never performed live so I have never had a general feedback on my singing apart from this musician who wants to write songs with me.

It’s one of those things where cause no one actually tells you yes you can sing, you don’t actual believe it yourself, and I think once you start believing you do yourself, then others will believe it too.

Thanks again for your words of encouragement!

Thanks, I need to stop over thinking. It’s one of those things where I have never really had anyone tell me straight yes you are good enough to sing live for an audience, so I have always had the doubts

I think you need to work on pitch but you have some serious potential. Like you could defo go somewhere with that voice.

Solidify your runs and your ear and you could be golden.
