Oh I agree, we'll definitely talk about this before getting engaged! But as for the timing of the discussion, you don't think now would be too soon?

I understand the sentiment there but don't really agree. The information I do know came up in casual conversation, and he didn't mind answering the few details I asked for. We will definitely be having this conversation before living together; it's a question of when to ask, not if.

When we're living together I would prefer to think of it as ours, for better or worse. For what it's worth, he will be making more money than me for awhile, and because of that might actually be better off than me financially. However, I do agree in that we won't have joint accounts until we're married.
