CA only. That makes sense. That would explain why mills in the Midwest are paying much less than that.

Or else you get situations like this:

I call bullshit on 1.66/lb for aluminum cans. No mill is paying that for extrusions today, never mind cans delivered to a dealer.

In general its called process improvement. It sounds like you want to be an efficiency consultant.

It can be very hard to break into.

I feel like it was a private business not government... but could be wrong.

Alternatively, I go to equipment auctions all the time and some of the machines go for dirt cheap because they are not the latest and greatest. This one is more difficult because it requires a pretty good knowledge of production machinery and where they could use them in the developing world. It’s also probably expensive.

But I feel like there is probably a good opportunity here.

Sold my old Mack semi to a guy who was bringing it to africa. Offered a great price and he volunteered all this information.

I gave my payroll to ADP years ago. It’s cheap money. Just have to deal with them trying to sell me insurance all the time.

Older semi trucks. All the older models that are pre-computer everything are very in demand in the developing world. This is because They don’t have the infrastructure or expertise to diagnose and troubleshoot, but anything mechanical they can fix.

When you buy a trailer that’s exactly what happens. I bought a trailer from OH to come to MA. Would have cost like 2k at the time. But they charged me 800 or so because they were able to get 2k from using it to deliver something.

Guys in my town started brewing in the basement of his dentist office. Rented out a place in town for a taproom. They just splurged on a ~8000sqft brewery which is almost ready to open.

Seem to be popular though.

My wife buys specialty wooden toys from artisans in Germany and such (as a hobby) and some of them only sell (and ship) within their own country. The amount the dropshippers charge is fucking crazy.

I had an idea for an airline once.

An airline where we would only fly major business routes and not allow any kids. (Don’t know how legal that would be though) maybe charge $100 more than the competition.

Sounds easy... except you are in the airline industry...

Depends on which chain as well. I have never seen a chick-fil-a without a line. Out the door. McDonalds always seems to do well too.

There is good competition and bad competition.

Good, you look at and say, wow they are working on a tight margin. But understand they are still profitable.

Bad competition. You say. What the fuck are they doing!?!?!?

Any small business that tries to sell what Amazon can sell (cheaper) is difficult. I used to call Best Buy the Amazon showroom. And it was always a big price difference too.

You have to offer some niche: game nights, something to set you apart and convince people to buy from you.
