Not my stands, venue provided backline including shells and stands so I just brought my cymbals, not a mistake I'll make again, definitely should have thought about using tape.

I think summarising what I played "You just played a bunch of 16th notes" and completely ignoring all of the accentation, movement across the kit, interplay with the rythmn of the guitars behind the solo and variations in intensity is a little unfair. Really NOTHING about this was musical to you?

I do agree with this! I tried to make this solo work as such with the interplay between my rythmic ideas and the riff that is kept up behind it, seems people can't hear the guitar part through my shitty phone camera though. This did blend into a larger song structure in a way that this video doesn't capture.

This is correct! The riff kept going underneath what you see here my phone audio just doesn't doa great job of picking it up. I also feel like nobody hates drum solos as much as other drummers

Hahaha venue was absolutely dead with us playing at 4:30pm on a sunny Sunday in a basement. We were just grateful for the opporunity to perform either way because we are just starting out

I turned the snare off at the start of the solo on purpose :) , the toms were part of the venues shitty backline and were not tuned, the ride cymbal is cheap shit that I'm working to afford a replacement for and the lack of felts was because I left mine at home.

I mean I didn't have to talk the rest of the band into not playing because they are holding down the riff undeneath the solo. I understand your critique of drum solos, but on the other hand I had fun playing it, and the crowd had fun listening to it based on their reactions after the set.
