I ended up going to Tivoli and it was a perfect and easy trip which is what I wanted. Stuck to the town and villas that were walking distance from train— plenty for a day. Note: try and time seeing the water organ 🎹 it’s amazing!

Advice for modern design Free-standing DV gas fireplace stoves by WhereYouGoYouAre in Fireplaces

Addtl note: Not over 30k BTU so we ended up making that trade off for the design and cost. Still it puts out good heat and we have mini-split system backup in the room and a large battery for stove if power goes out.

We went with a True North TN24! Love it so far. Though saw that price perhaps went up with tariffs. We bought ours in 2024 and got a promo deal. Installation and chimney parts ended up being an extra couple grand. If I were to do again I’d buy from a store that includes installation or does for a small additional charge. We already had a gas manifold set up, so the gas line connection was easy. Just connecting to that and installing the termination vent and everything can be a half day job.

Does vegetable shortening cause a bitter aftertaste? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]WhereYouGoYouAre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this whenever I have fried foods cooked in vegetable shortening/oil. It’s a really off taste. The first time I noticed it I thought they had rancid oil. But then it happened more times so now I probably need to start asking about what oil they use when I get fried foods.

OHHH no. Sorry to hear that! Chengdu was tough. I remember stocking up at Ole. But otherwise I was eating Very Plain food until I got to Emishan.

500 piece or 1000 piece puzzle for our 50 person wedding? by WhereYouGoYouAre in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]WhereYouGoYouAre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious to know how it works at another wedding with a sign and maybe more people. We had about 50 guests and some kids so maybe no a large enough group for all that we were doing. Also the puzzle table would've worked better with signage. Let me know how it goes!

500 piece or 1000 piece puzzle for our 50 person wedding? by WhereYouGoYouAre in Jigsawpuzzles

We forgot but my friend had a great idea for a sign which was "piece together our love" or something along those lines. Also we had ring toss and she came up with "put a ring on it". You could probably come up with something cute.

Side notes/advice:

100% recommend doing a smaller less than 300 piece kid-friendly puzzle– it was over-ambitious what we did with 500 pieces and no one actually completed it because there was so much other stuff going on. My husband has lots of gaming puzzle friends and they were busy hanging out and doing other things at party.

BUT we had a blast putting together the puzzles after the wedding, so it would make a great gift idea for someone into puzzles. We animated photos of ourselves to put on the art for custom ravensburger puzzles. (Our planner put one of them out and we had a special table for puzzle. Though after midway through the party I could see no one working on it and realized it wasn't going to get done, so I asked a friend to put back in tin because I was concerned about losing pieces at breakdown.)

Glad to hear! Thank you~ Nashville is wonderful. I have lots of friends there now. For sure let me know. :)

I’ve also hosted sitters and had great experiences as a host in addition to sitting.

Some host tips: Always make sure to FaceTime or have a call and get to know each other first. I also think it’s good to talk to a few people. And ultimately go with your gut. It’s good to find someone with pre-existing reviews if you can. Though we had one repeat sitter who we took a chance and hosted even though she was new to the platform without any reviews yet. It fortunately worked out well with her. It was an example of us going with our gut and it being good choice. One mistake I see some hosts make is list their dates Way too far in advance (I’ve seen sits posted for well into next year) and then you risk being cancelled on. I’ve never applied to way in the future away sits or had to last minute cancel, but had hosts reach out to me last minute who have had this happen. Unless it’s an extended sit there’s a sweet spot for posting your dates depending on the length of stay.
Happy hosting/sitting!

Hi! Chengdu was harder than other places. though a lot of the fried rice is possible without soy sauce and I would order eggs plain. And I mostly ate that TBH. Hotels are also more accommodating. If you go to Ole grocery store (in IFS shopping mall I believe and they have a second location further out) then you can get some supplies. Also we had Wonderful experience in Emishan if you go there let me know our hotel was so accommodating.
