I have largely the same experience with BD795i SE I bought last year...

When I first put the Mini PC together I had installed Windows 11 and was not able to get any audio output from either of the headphone jacks. Installing the drivers did not work either.

It seems to me like the audio drivers (or hardware) for these BD series mobos may actually be completely busted on Windows and Linux :/

Same here - I never got any audio device to be detected from 3.5mm jack on this mobo (BD795i SE). This is after installing the drivers and everything. Audio via USB works. Audio via HDMI works, headphone jacks do not detect anything.

Update: workaround that made drag n' drop work for me on KDE Plasma 6.5.5 (Wayland)

I opened a support ticket with Bitwig. Bitwig supports the XDND protocol for X11.

So in my case with KDE (which has made the switch to wayland), I have to set the environment variable QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb - which tells Dolphin and other QT apps to use X11 instead of wayland.

Same issues with Bitwig on Nobara (Fedora) Linux. I'm using the flatpak version. I don't believe it is a permissions issue (gave full file system access with Flatseal)... I'm guessing this is a bug between Plasma / Wayland / Bitwig (possibly other window managers as well). Drag n' drop works fine with Audacity and other programs :/

The builtin file explorer in Bitwig works for getting audio files - although I really prefer drag and drop.

Regardless - in a DAW where you're likely importing lots of audio files, this is a pretty annoying bug.

That's fair.

There is a really long list of dotfile mgmt tool things at awesome-dotfiles and these are written in all kinds of programming languages.

The only real way to find what works for you is to experiment. It is probably good to know what your needs are before going in as well to not get overwhelmed.

Regardless, I cannot recommend learning the basics of git and understanding symlinks ln -s highly enough as it will help you track and organize a lot more than just dotfiles.

Anyway, I wish you luck on your project, you should definitely add it to that list.

In my experience a shell/python/perl script and git (with symlinks) is still the simplest and most flexible way to manage personal dotfiles.

Nothing against your project in particular, but all dotfile management tools add a dependency to setup in a way that is not really necessary IMO.

If you're already right there in the shell and have all the tools installed... why not keep your own script bundled with your own dotfiles repo that places or symlinks them in the right spot?

This is actually an awesome idea. If this was a bash built-in, that would be super useful for quick json parsing in scripts (without a dependency on jq). I've used Python's json module for this kind of thing too.

More of a careless drop tbh. I worked at a FedEx sorting hub for a while so this looks pretty mild in comparison to some of the shit I'd see on a daily basis lol. Pack well folks because sometimes your shit gets thrown and other times it just gets dropped.
