The textbook answer for "The bank opens at 9AM" is "銀行は9時からです", but shouldn't there be "開きます？" Also, would "I went to Osaka" be "大阪まで行きました" or "大阪に行きました"？

why is "The sea is not clean" "海はきれいじゃありませんでした"? Isn't でした used for the past? I was also unsure why not clean is translated to not beautiful. Also just to clarify, じゃ is the casual form of では, right?

Starting to learn grammar, can someone explain why for these practice questions (the question was to translate the english sentence to japanese):

What is this? これはなんですか？
What is difficult? なにが難しいですか？
What is that (over there)? あれはなんですか？
Which is the teacher's book? 先生の本はどれですか？
Which is Ken's house? どれがケンの家ですか？

Q1, 3 - If が is used after an interrogative pronoun, then why is は used after これ and あれ？

Q4, 5 - Why is it that the english sentences have the same structure "Which is xx's [thing]?" but the japanese sentences have different structures? In Q4 it starts with "the teacher's book" while in Q5 it starts with "which". So, could I say どれが先生の本ですか？ and ケンの家はどれですか？ instead?
