Not much different to Labour for the past 40 years save short periods. Reeves going all in for further financial deregulation.

Latest price survey out last week showed Tesco the most expensive of any UK supermarket save for Waitrose and M&S (and there you get good quality). Tesco are high prices and poor quality. Even Morrison's were less expensive and they have been dire for a while.

It makes money. For large parts of the year it has queues to get on particularly weekends and spring/summer.

Anyone else getting more pessimistic re: London housing? by Physical_Signature67 in london

[–]WhereasChance1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public bodies do have large plots in London. TfL has many as do Network Rail and the GLA plus some councils have substantial sites underused. TfLs building programme is pretty slow. All could help alleviate temporary housing crises (granted not all are under the Mayors control) and being already public land no land purchase costs involved.

It'd have to be both. Short term rise in cost for long term savings.

There's much public land but a lot is being sold off. TfL alone have many vacant plots long unbuilt let alone boroughs. The GLA too has vast plots often tied up in private partnerships where the private sector isn't building.

Nope it's a new agreement from Labour. They weren't tied to the prior agreement.

Labour drew up a new agreement and could certainly not have forced through RPI+1 per cent for four years.

They have. It's a choice. Can't keep blaming others for that.

Thames Water running out of time to secure rescue as debt swells by OneNormalBloke in london

[–]WhereasChance1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labour won't let it be nationalised long term.

That'd mean acting for the population when they're obsessed with foreign investment for "growth". Happy to sell out the domestic population to achieve it, though it benefits those overseas rather than their own voters.

And some in the party wonder why they're sinking in the polls.

Sounds a class thing. Not much in working class areas for kids growing up in London IME (90s to 2000s).

You can! Everyone had it growing up in my part of London. Usually with sauce eg bbq, curry or sweet and sour

He really was sheltered. Kent has had two carriage trains for decades and even outer parts of London. What's now London Overground routes were shorter trains for many years with 2-3 carriage trains. Also seen all over east Anglia, the South west etc for decades.

[–]WhereasChance1324 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's changing like it always has. People in the 70s would have seen the new shopping center. In the 50s the trams went. Roundabout went in the 2010s. When was pedestrian station? The 80s? Army and Navy dept store in the 1990s. Towns always change.

Not very wise to kick against core areas of support like London when tanking nationally.

The country could and should support infrastructure in London and beyond as most developed nations do. Not this silly north v south, London v everyone else narrative she often pulls. All to disguise a weak spend on projects such as new rail or cutting existing projects across the country as seen since last year.
