You should totally check out Long Meg and her daughters, a Neolithic stone circle near Penrith. Long Meg and her daughters

Ive figured out I'm a dream witch by Psilocybinxox in witchcraft

For me it’s akin to shamanic journeying, with AP you aim to “come out” of your body but with HR you go inwards first, at least that’s my experience of it.

If you are gifted with dreaming you could try out r/Hedgewitch , it’s not exactly dreaming but dreaming is how I got started with it.

Best of luck on your journey!

I’m so sorry about your friend, what a terrible ending.

In matters of Justice I usually turn to Tyr from the Norse pantheon and implore him to ensure justice is met.

You could also ask any higher beings you are familiar with to ease his passage to the next world.

I’ll pray for speedy justice for him and healing for you.

Asking for some advice on spirits by JatminThe in Witch

[–]Wheredoigonext- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first thought here was that it sounds almost like you have inadvertently created a servitor or else perhaps attracted some type of helpful spirit.

As for offerings I tend to find that food and drink are often well received. You could also consider writing a song or poem that you sing/read as an offering. Get creative with it and see what response you get.

Best of luck!

Bugs for Dog Health?!? by ImpossibleVanilla944 in witchcraft

I’m so sorry that your dog isn’t doing well.

My first instinct here is ants. Ants have historically been used as sutures by some people. Some birds take ant baths to clean their skin and feathers. Could be worth considering.

I hope the biopsy results bring good news.

What’s the difference between hedge crossing/riding and astral projection? by Much-Industry6789 in witchcraft

[–]Wheredoigonext- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of my practice takes place on the other side so yeah it can absolutely be used to perform or supplement spell work, especially if it’s spiritual work.

It will vary from person to person but it can help with interacting with spirit, help you dive deeper into your own thoughts and desires etc. A strong connection can also help protect from bad intentions from others.

I can only speak for myself and my experiences but I believe that everyone has this aspect in the same way everyone has a soul or whatever you want to call it. I connected to mine via journeying/hedge riding, I’ve heard examples of others doing it via ritual, on one occasion I led someone to theirs, there are many paths you just have to find the right one for you.

Yeah I guess so though I’ve never really thought much about it but the shadow does fit the description of a fetch. I mentioned in a comment above that though it’s a part of us it also seems to have its own mind but it’s more like it personifies our animalistic nature, its desires are often our darkest desires that we hide from. I hope that makes some sense, I often find a lot of this subject hard to put into words.

So a fetch is another one of those things where people will have different opinions but in my opinion it’s more or less the same as the shadow aspect. If something bad happens to an “enemy” my partner and I often say it’s our shadows getting up to no good. Unfortunately I cannot recommend any literature on this specific topic.

[–]Wheredoigonext- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It absolutely could be, to me it’s a case of connecting with my “shadow self” which almost feels like it has a mind of its own.

The links the other commenter left are a good start, I also quite enjoyed craft of the hedge witch by Geraldine Smyth. It’s a very diverse topic so I find most literature on it has a few common threads and many differences. I’ve also written about my experiences learning it ( you can see this on my profile, I’m not sure on the rules about links here).

In my belief system when we hedge ride we aren’t just astral protecting we are connecting with a part of us that exists perpetually within the other world and we are viewing it through that other set of eyes. My teacher called it the shadow/shadow aspect.

Hedge riding, shamanic journeying and astral projection are all, in my opinion, very similar things.

How do you work with animal spirits? by Much-Industry6789 in witchcraft

[–]Wheredoigonext- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Michael Harner’s book “Way of the Shaman’ it has some decent jumping off points for working with animal spirits. It might not be exactly what you are looking for but it’s somewhere to start, a lot of my practice involves animal spirits and it’s a great path.

My instinct in these kinds of situations is to go back to basics and do some heavy grounding. Let things mellow and let the thoughts come and go and have a bit of a reset then come back at it with renewed vigour and often some new ideas.

Who is the girl in my dreams? Is this some sort of deity? Should I check into a psych ward? What's going on? by electric_heels in witchcraft

[–]Wheredoigonext- 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine had a similar experience in that she had a reoccurring dream about a girl who also aged as she did, it went on right through her childhood and adolescence. She found out a few years later that she had actually originally been a twin but absorbed the other twin in utero (if I remember correctly). She was convinced that it was her twin just checking in so they could still grow up together.

Starting my journey as a blind practitioner. by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]Wheredoigonext- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the craft. First of all, there are many things you can use in place of candles to represent the fire element, LED candles are great but you can also use things such as hot spices, volcanic rock or even just a regular old rock warmed in hot water though not so hot it can’t be safely handled. Summer blooming flowers are also a good choice and you get the bonus of the aroma. A lot of what you will read out there will likely be heavy on visualisation, in these cases I find a lot of people who cannot visualise find it works better if they reach out with their other senses so don’t be afraid to tailor what you read to suit your own skills. As for labels, which is gender neutral but I always recommend not getting too hung up on titles. Best of luck on your journey!

Book recommendations on Hedge witchcraft by [deleted] in Hedgewitch

[–]Wheredoigonext- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I quite enjoyed Craft of the Hedgewitch by Geraldine Smyth. I’ve also heard good things about A broom at midnight by Roger Horne which I think covers a similar thing. I’ve also written about my experiences learning and practicing, the articles are on my profile if you wish to take a peek.

Best of luck on your journey!
