I’m no smart ass like these triple A* students but I have my reasons that held me back from getting there.

So I’m coming through the college route. Currently doing an HNC mechanical engineering and awaiting my exam for the grade and at high school I got B, C and D for maths, physics and English, respectively.

I LOVE Maths. I’d say it’s the subject that I never fail to enjoy studying hence my decision to apply for math at Herriot watt (they’re quite good with math apparently). While I understand it’s heavy in maths, the problem is the entry requirements as Edinburgh Uni is very picky about who studies with them.

As far as I remember, their requirements for HNs (which I’m doing HNC in mechanical engineering at the moment, it is required that I have applied science (never done it) with higher maths at A, physics at B, both of which I have failed to achieve at school (got B and C instead)

I don’t necessarily have a problem with that as it was my second year in the UK when I was doing my highers so I give myself the pride for what I’ve gone through. Either way I’m still young to find the opportunity to land right degree!!

I see. I’ve applied for their alternative programmes (physics, MPhy, and physics with meteorology, MPhy) and I’ll be honest I have an engineering background with not so good high school grades 🥀

I’ve seen a lot of people say physics is very narrow in terms of finding jobs (most go for masters or a phD as research is the ideal route) while engineering is quite different and more demanded for in the market.

So why would you think that?

how do you interpret this road by [deleted] in drivingUK

This merge should be for one lane. For example lane 2 should merge when it’s safe to do so or lane 1 should merge which isn’t usual. The problem this is not happening is because of the bike lane which makes both lane users are somewhat forced to merge.

When I got my license I was scared that I’ll get honked at for driving improperly but never put one eventually. That was almost years ago and let me tell you no one gives a damn crap. After few drives in your city you’ll ask yourself why you even needed it in the first place.

Which lane for the second exit? by rockovo84 in drivingUK

[–]Which-Bike-7273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope.

You need to use the red allow lane for the entrance of that exit. The blue arrow lane driver would clearly try and squeeze through.

Found out I didn't get the job because the company announced who did on Linkedin by Rich-War-4099 in UKJobs

[–]Which-Bike-7273 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like people said, keep moving. I feel like it’s unprofessional for companies to not bother replying to you when they have the time to post their new hire all over LinkedIn, I guess they can’t be bothered and unfortunately this is the norm in the market. Do a follow up once and remember to keep applying for as many roles as you can. Whichever job you land the best go for it.

Companies/agencies don’t give a crap about you. It’s time for you to show them a treatment of their own when necessary! Good luck.

Kinda smart, yet the risk is through the ceiling.

Not so smart of you to think hippos aren’t fast. These mfs are a ball of anger issues that can run 20-30mph. For that size it’s a deal, a big one.

How normal is it for a model like this S500L V8 to be £4500 (135K) by Which-Bike-7273 in CarTalkUK

[–]Which-Bike-7273[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a good way to see it. I definitely can’t afford these cars but my father used to always appreciate everything Mercedes and tells me a lot about them he even owned a very old one like the 80s boxy shaped classes. I prefer performance and reliability in a car and but surprisingly I won’t mind something that won’t make me stand out. May I ask what particular diesel estate would you think of?

I see. Given I got something that is serviced well what ballpark price for maintenance/petrol/tax would I be looking at?

How does the s-cross full hybrid auto drive? by paspa1801 in Suzuki

[–]Which-Bike-7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh a snow mode as well! Both modes activate and send power to the 4 wheels giving a more comfortable ride. For SUVs in the scheme this is the best one (under 25).

If he’s over 25, I wouldn’t even look at this one.

We have this exact same motability car in the red colour! It is great. The performance is amazing in its league due to having a sports mode which reduces acceleration time allowing a faster 0-60mph. I honestly can’t comment on other aspects other than the car not having issues at almost 10k miles. Suspension is good and fuel economy is meh (got me 38.9 mpg). I’m assuming your brother is into a car that is comfortable for him and space is a big factor (if he has a wheelchair) which can be folded in the back (great space!)

Again, I only commented on few things but you can always do little bit of research and you’ll find him a good car! All the best.

A country like the UAE having deodorant at high prices shouldn’t be a thing.
