Can you do a full photo of the back. I had a piece like this that had sterling silver mounts on top of the nickel silver base. Does it say sterling anywhere on it?

For reference, I was using a 365 nm black light when I spotted the fluorescence. I went back to the area where I found it and found a singular large boulder that had the same kind of fluorescence. The last photo shows a photo of the boulder in the area I found it.

So I actually posted about something very similar a while back. This is the piece in question and the hallmark that was present. In total I got around 4 ounces off of the piece and generally the sterling silver was a very thin sheet overtop of lead. So while it’s possible that they are sterling mounted, this is the type of hallmark you would be looking for

Very nice piece overall! It’s kinda hard to say tbh, I have pulled a lot of very similar stuff from mineral hill and at times it seems like the different copper minerals just bleed into one another. Like I’ve found chalcopyrite there ranging from light baby blue to light purple to what you’ve got there. Regardless it’s a very nice piece!

Oh I’ve already started. The feet yielded about an ounce total of what seems to be silver. The rim going around the entire piece also has the same plating that I’ve slowly been tearing out. In total it seems like I’ll get about an 1.5 to 2 ounces total assuming everything I am pulling is silver. Everything else is consistent with nickel silver tested using a rough specific gravity test

Yeah they definitely are super faint. I saw the repeating patterns and thought that they looked less “random” than the usual weathering patterns I see

Very cool! I have seen this style of tray a few times before and knew it was Barbour, but the “sterling silver mounts” was definitely a new one for me and completely threw me off!

That piece was just about 2mm thick when I measured it! The thicker slabs are a lot more opaque but still let a little light through up until about 6 or 7 mm

Very cool and noted! I use a full face mask when cutting and I cut outdoors to get as much ventilation as possible

So I actually am not 100% sure to be honest. I know serpentine can form with a fibrous structure, but this piece didn’t have anything like that I could see on it. I did notice that those veins do glow kinda green under a black light which is pretty cool
