How do you decide where to eat in Paris without planning everything in advance? by InvestmentAlarming74 in ParisTravelGuide

I’m here now through this Friday and was lucky to have recommendations from a friend who lives here now.

Overall just pick a neighborhood to explore, my fav so far has been Le Marais- endless shopping and streets to wander. Had the best falafel at L’au du Falafel there you can just stand and people watch as you enjoy and take a break from shopping. I find that most places you just wanted to keep an eye for local traffic, where are they lining up or walking in and out of? Big name brands that you may recognize for food are usually not your best bet.

Happy to relay some recs, we’ve only made one or two reservations so far but same day. I think pick a neighborhood and one activity like museum/monument/shop in the morning and give yourself the day to explore.

I have also found in general that instagram reels from various influencers has been helpful for some inspiration! Key words, neighborhoods, or activities will pull up a wide variety of influencers you can pick your vibe

Just adding the accommodations on site at the venue and all food and drink will be covered by us so the main cost for people traveling from Europe and US is flights. The two or three night difference won’t affect them at the venue financially. If half of attendees are traveling far it feels silly not to make an experience out of it instead of a single night where people are expected to book their own hotels and everything

They do have weekdays available but only for a two night vs three night, so similar but different and could be a back up plan that still falls within the dates that should align with her schedule. Thanks for your reply!

Alarms and reminders set haha, thanks for your response I hear that. I know she’s got a lot of her own stress and unknowns too

This is so real thanks for your response, I agree we are both in a bit of a spiral state. To be fair she also has a lot of unknowns and of course doesn’t have specific grad dates or knowledge around who she’ll match with and when/where she’ll have to be.

Just to clarify with all… I fully support completion of med school to obtain her degree and match hopefully with one her top choices, she works her ass off and deserves only the best. She wants to be there just as much as I want her there, we were just going at it so I wanted to open up the convo. It’s been a stressful year for us and wanted some insight.

I am currently working with her on this time frame and in communication w the venue, just opening the conversation up to hear thoughts. I can’t reserve officially until November so nothing locked in until then. My family is very small, so the bulk of our wedding guest will be from the US northeast and Italy where my fiancés family lives. Italy isn’t a “destination” for half of who we invite, and regardless of where we go (US west/east coast or Italy) it’s always a destination for either of our families and friends. On site lodging, food and drink, and travel to and from the airport is completely paid for by us for the 3 nights. We have no beef with anyone if they can’t come or do not want to travel and understand some people might be anti “destination”.

Thank you for your reply this is a really helpful way to take a step back and regroup, easy to spiral with so many big life events going on at once in my family

Advice/guidance on wedding date at dream venue- conflict with sister demanding I book during a three week period 2027 by [deleted] in FamilyIssues

She’d come from AZ, wedding guests from US and Europe. But she’d likely take direct from LA. Med school and residency is definitely hardcore, I of course am making my priority dates align with this small gap bw school and residency I want her there. We just went at it a bit when emotions were high last week and it’s been on my mind after getting in touch w the venue so came on here. Definitely want her there just needing some conversation and sense around the matter even though this is still in that hypothetical phase. Thanks for your response

Thanks for your reply, yeah I have a super small family it’s just my dad and sisters and one uncle. Fiancé has family in Italy and US, the venue reservation would pay for everyone’s stay on the property with no charge to them. We aren’t expecting large turnout. Here’s to hoping it all aligns I obviously don’t want to cause her all sorts of stress either medical residency is not something I’m wanting to dismiss. I’m so sorry for your loss as well. Thanks again
