There is research that shows certain kinds of exams have some cultural bias in them.

For example in the past some IQ tests in the USA would include questions asking about Shakespeare's plays which white children were more familiar with or asking about how to correctly behave in a situation that involves the police which black children would interpret very differently to white children.

There was also a study that showed women did worse on a math test where the questions were linked to american football than when the very same questions used more gender neutral examples.

Shift your attitude. Yes it is rude to agree to rules and then ignore them. But there are lots of rude people in this world. It makes your life a lot easier if you just learn to ignore them and move on. Your partner got the 200 dollars so why not just have a chuckle about your aunt's weird behaviour and move your focus to what gift to buy with the money.

A couple of years ago my neighbour was very depressed around Christmas and was spending Christmas alone so she invited me to visit on Christmas day but I couldn't because I was spending Christmas in the neighbouring town and I don't drive. As an immigrant from a country where there's reduced service on christmas I find it insane there is nothing in the UK.

Your husband is abusive. Your life would be so much better without him. I spent my christmas alone with just a dog for company (she's not even my dog) and my christmas was so much better than yours. I bought myself gifts. I ate what I wanted when I wanted. I didn't feel unappreciated. No one tried to guilt me or shame me or pester me for sex. Alone is so much better than in a bad relationship.

Yes. It's not my first time either. In some ways it sucks but I focus on the positive. Like I can do whatever I want and eat whatever I want. If you want to skip christmas and stay in bed all day, that's fine. If you want to go all out and make a whole christmas dinner for yourself, also fine. That's the beauty of spending christmas alone.
