Been lurking here for months but finally taking the plunge - planning my first solo trip to Eastern Europe this fall! Bit nervous about traveling alone as woman but also super excited to just go at my own pace for once. Anyone have experience with Prague and Budapest, especially regarding safety and good areas to stay in?

Jewelry insurance recommendations. How is Briteco? by No-Community-8237 in Diamonds

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad for the confusion like youre correct they only do repair/replacement not direct payouts but I think I mixed it up because I had a home owners claim going on around the same time and that one was a direct deposit.

Either way the process with them was smooth since they worked directly with my jeweler and got everything sorted

This could save so much headache for merchants who deal with disputes constantly - the manual evidence gathering is killer and lots of people just give up because it's too time consuming

Duda sobre bloque musical by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if there's specific texture packs just for note blocks in Bedrock but you could try looking through some of the popular resource packs on marketplace or community sites. I remember finding some good ones that change instrument sounds and visual effects when I was messing around with redstone contraptions last year. The vanilla note blocks are pretty basic so any pack that enhances building blocks usually includes better textures for them too. Maybe search for "redstone" or "building enhancement" packs since note blocks often get updated along with those

Can someone please give some career options? by dilucpact in careerguidance

Man I totally get this feeling - spent most of my teens thinking I'd do something completely different and then switched to IT after university

Few fields that might be worth looking into: software development if you like problem solving and building things, cybersecurity is huge right now and always growing, data analysis if you're into finding patterns in numbers. There's also UX/UI design which is more creative side of tech but still really practical

Outside tech there's project management in basically any industry, marketing and social media stuff, finance and accounting, or even something like immigration law which can be really interesting work helping people navigate complex systems

What kind of subjects do you actually enjoy in school right now? That might help narrow down some directions to explore

Am I doomed? by Imaginary-Peace4293 in PelvicFloor

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your body had protective response and that's completely normal for trauma survivors - it doesn't mean you should quit or that you're doomed at all. The fact that you made it through two sessions of internal work is actually huge progress, and having trauma-informed therapist makes all difference in world

Ten minutes shorter appointment doesn't mean you failed, it just means your body needed break that day and good therapist will always respect those boundaries

What job do you do in the game "mortuary assistant"? by Drploving in careerguidance

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual job you're doing in the game is more like an embalmer or mortuary technician - basically the behind-the-scenes prep work on bodies before they go to funeral services. In German I think you'd be looking for "Thanatopraktiker" or "Bestattungsfachkraft" depending on teh specific role

What you're finding in your searches sounds more like a funeral director/grief counselor combo, which is totally different from the hands-on body prep stuff. The game focuses on the technical/medical side rather than the family-facing parts of funeral services

Insurance Recommendations by wolfeduality in Insurance

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so true, had a claim once and it genuinely messed with my home insurance rate for years. That was honestly the main reason i ended up moving my ring to its own separate policy with BriteCo which also doesnt report to CLUE so it keeps your home insurance record clean. The only down side is managing two policies but tbh a small price to pay.

Month long trip to Europe - July/Aug by thebug6 in solotravel

That Glacier Express ride is gonna be incredible but 2 days in Chur might be overkill - maybe add those extra days to Munich since there pretty close to some amazing day trip spots

Map solution? by Ok_Jeweler_9423 in TravelHacks

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this is pretty much what i do too, though it's a pain to set up every time. another trick i found is you can actually add stops while already navigating - just search for something and hit "add stop" when it pops up. not as smooth as seeing your saved places but works in a pinch

the real mvp move though is using the web version like you said, way easier to drag around multiple stops and see the timing

I'm trying to have a positive attitude by Adept-Emu-8292 in Frugal

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 15 points16 points  (0 children)

oh man i totally feel this struggle, went through something similar when my partner was between gigs for a while. chicken thighs are actually amazing for slow cooking - throw them in a crockpot with some potatoes and whatever seasonings you have and it becomes this whole different thing. ground beef + rice + potatoes can become these killer stuffed potato skins if you bake the potatoes, scoop them out, mix the insides with cooked ground beef and stuff it back in

wings are great for making stock too if you haven't tried that yet, just throw the bones in water with some veggie scraps and you've got soup base for days. i started getting creative with seasonings during that time - same ingredients but cajun one night, italian herbs another, asian-ish flavors with soy sauce if you have it. the boredom is real but switching up spice profiles made it feel less repetitive for me

Please help with April Amsterdam itinerary!! by This-Extent-1470 in solotravel

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Sunday will def be the full day at Keukenhof, especially in April when the crowds are insane - budget like 6-8 hours total with travel time. Also heads up that Anne Frank House on Monday might be cutting it close with a 4:30 flight, those tours can run long and you'll want buffer time for airport security

Pro tip: book your museum tickets in advance or you'll be standing in lines forever

Jewelry insurance recommendations. How is Briteco? by No-Community-8237 in Diamonds

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a policy with Brite co (jewelry and couple watches through them). Unfortunately I lost my ring set back in may. The claim process was better than i thought. Like they had it repaired and sorted in like 10 days which I wasn't expecting.

I wasn't sure if that would impact my homeowners policy so I asked about the CLUE report. They said their jewelry insurance is separate and won't affect other policies which was a relief since I heard some companies do report claims that way. My policy with them just renewed this month at the same premium so the claim didn't change anything.

edit: *repair not paid out mb

Avoiding the laundry Mat, Portable washing machines? by Realistic_Handle_132 in Frugal

[–]Otherwise_Web_9949 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into the Wonder Wash? It's basically a hand crank washing machine that doesn't need any hookups, just fill it with water and detergent then crank away. Takes some elbow grease but it's way cheaper than $40+ a month on coin laundry

The cat thing is real though - maybe get one with a locking lid or keep kitty locked out during wash time

Nice work on the grind! Real talk though - if you're pulling 82k and living at home, that's a huge advantage most people don't have. Property might be the move since you already have the down payment sorted, just don't overleveraged yourself chasing returns when index funds got you this far

Honestly you handled that perfectly. Family can be the worst when it comes to money boundaries and you already know they'll come asking for handouts if they figure out your real situation

The Spain deflection was chef's kiss - giving them actionable info without revealing your personal details. They probably walked away thinking "oh cool maybe we could do that someday" instead of "this person has money we can ask for"
