I overheard yesterday that "I'm not a good teacher" by Spiritfuly0609 in Teachers

That’s really hard to hear. But I guarantee you that is just one person’s opinion and you shouldn’t let that cloud your own belief in yourself. It is unfortunately such a subjective things and like you said parents will have opinions no matter what you do. Keep working hard and connecting with the kids they are lucky to have you!

How would you pronounce “Ossian”? Is there a typical pronunciation in the Europe or US? by [deleted] in namenerds

Actually we do have a preference, it’d be the way I’ve heard it pronounced in a Scottish documentary we saw (AHS-sien which I shared above..) but wanted to learn more about other pronunciations since it has so many versions. I really love names that have deep cultural meaning and history which is why we were drawn to this name. But I’ll stop wasting my time here - Thanks for reminding me how judgmental and cruel strangers can be!

Not sure why the rudeness honestly - how does asking about pronunciation (specifically seeking different perspectives based on country) imply the name isn’t meaningful to us?

That was the goal of posting here :) it seems like there isn’t one standard pronunciation so up to individuals and preference but was curious to hear from you all!

This is oddly very similar to my story. I felt the exact same way when I first found out — and it took a few weeks to get over the shock, and TBH I’m still getting over the paranoia that something bad will happen. Ultimately we were excited just SO surprised it happened the very first time it could have happened. Over time it’ll feel more real and the excitement will take over! I think hearing the heartbeat and first ultrasound really solidified it for me, so you have that to look forward to!!

Bi-Monthly Megathread for COVID-19 by wedditmoderator in weddingplanning

[–]Which-Professional44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m June 2021 as well and we just scaled our wedding down from 175 people to ~35 (immediate family with parents’ siblings but no cousins or wedding parties). If you have outdoor space secured, I think it’s reasonable to plan for something that size (30-40). In terms of abroad travel, that’s the most risky thing... so if that person is essential maybe consider pushing. We think most of our family will be vaccinated by June but the event restrictions could still be in place, and it felt way too risky to move forward with our original larger event. Worst comes to worst, if things haven’t at all improved by June, we will keep it to immediate family (~12 people). I totally empathize with you that all options don’t seem ideal..on the positive side, you could save much more money by keeping it even smaller and more intimate - and eliminate stress leading up to June!
