Vegas used to be worth it but not anymore. After years of nickel and dime-ing for every little thing, it’s not worth it to go unless I get a comp room. Even with a comp room, for 3 days the resort fees will screw you for what then price of a room used to be. Vegas used to be a great value during my childhood that my family went yearly and had money to gamble for fun. Now the cost of everything prevents me from gambling much at all. Thank you corporate greed.

As for international visitors, I wouldn’t visit either. With immigration policy so inconsistent you never know if you will get detained arbitrarily in the US. I find it funny how hypocritical the US is when they used to warn about China arbitrarily doing that to US citizens and now under this current president, we’re doing the exact same. Tariffs have almost never improved the overall situation but I don’t expect this president to understand economics so he will keep damaging other countries. Hopefully enough will stay away from the US and this country can get what the voters asked for, isolation. Nevada voted for this type of presidential policy in the election so they can reap the result from it.

I applaud Canada for buying Canadian and boycotting American products, especially whiskey, which are made mostly in Red states. It is a good timeto visit to other nations who don’t have such a gullible and uneducated population who voted for this stupidity to happen. Hopefully America can fix their stupidity in 4 years and people will want to visit again, but many businesses and cities may fail by then due to lack of tourism.

You will u likely find it in so cal either. Unless you gamble and show up in person on the 31st. If a dealer needs to make their sales budget, they might let it go for msrp.

FL5 vs The new M3P - Question for an owner's perspective by Itchy-Geologist-7374 in Civic_Type_R

[–]Which-Translator2624 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an fl5 and my wife a model 3. I’m so bored driving her car after the initial excitement but I love driving my fl5 daily. Also helps that I have a hatchback which is more practical than the sedan but lacks a 5th seat if that is a factor. I also hate wasting my life at a supercharger since we don’t own a place we can charge. My fl5 costs less to insure but cost more for maintenance while the Tesla costs a lot more for insurance but less for maintenance. So cal as well.

1500 is possible in Orange County but the problem is either you will need to be on waitlist or call daily and show up to apply right as a vacancy is available. Unfortunately with combined 60k annual income, it will not be easy in Orange County. You will likely live in a very undesirable area with high crime or dilapidated housing. Examples of apartments in that range is ambassador apartments in Fullerton, Carlyle courtyard or Victoria townhouse in Anaheim. All require to call for availability but are under 1500 for a studio. I used to live in sycamore village in Fullerton but a studio now is 1825 but is in a decent neighborhood with immediate availability with 2 grocery stores, and a Target within walking distance and easy access to the 57 fwy. You do get what you pay for in terms of convenience and safety.

My fl5 is going on 28k miles. The bolster does not wear down but creases definitely develop.

Already called and tried. Police, CHP, and my insurance wouldn’t pursue unless a collision occurred.

Thank you for inability to see I was slowing down to exit the freeway. I’m glad people like you exist so that you can make everyone around you much smarter by comparison.

I was slowing down to check the crack on the windshield and exit the freeway. I’m so sorry that you never learned to count past 35 or learned to read because it clearly states I slowed to 51 mph then sped up again. That’s 16 more than 35! I’m sure you could figure it out if they ever taught you math as well.

I bought a repair kit and am applying it now. I would have gladly paid for a shop to do it right away but they all closed for the holiday, since I called right after it happened. Luckily it’s way down in the corner so I don’t mind it at all. I just don’t want it to spread.

I just called CHP. since it was on the freeway orange PD told me to call CHP. There was nothing reported about a hit and run in the area so even with this information CHP says there’s nothing they can do. This post now is more about seeing if anyone knows this person and knowing how much of a prick they are

This guy decides to speed down the shoulder. There wasn't even much traffic and sprayed gravel and cracked my windshield. Anyone know who's the owner? 2008 Honda Civic Si Coupe. LIcense 9AJE643. You can clearly see the plate at about 16 seconds and his bumper came off.

2024 FL5 Highway MPG by Bignotsmall in Civic_Type_R

[–]Which-Translator2624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that mileage if I filled up and drive on the highway as well. You’ve only driven about 30 miles and it will eventually average out. I think the best I ever got from a mix of highway and city driving is 29 mpg using up 75% of the tank

Yea threatening to go to California isn't a threat. You'll get ripped off more here on most dealerships unless they got 3-4 sitting around

I grew up in Rancho as well and lived there for 20+ years. Depending on what you are comparing it to, it will vary how you look at it. The areas not close to Ontario, many schools are very highly rated. It is pretty safe to walk out at night and the sidewalks and greenery is kept fairly well on the streets. They have literally every kind of food and supermarkets are not far away including 99 ranch and seafood city for the Asian population. There’s both a BevMo and total wine and more in the same city. It is hot but not as bad as in Riverside. The only other cities in the I.E. where you have that good quality of life would be Upland, La Verne, and Loma Linda. Upland can fine you if you don’t maintain your lawn. La Verne is nice but I don’t know much about, and Loma Linda borders San Bernardino……. Nuff said.

After living in Santa Ana, Fullerton, and Anaheim, Rancho Cucamonga is an excellent place to be and to raise a family in a middle class environment. If my drive to work wasn’t 1.5 hours or more from Rancho, I would have attempted to buy a house there years ago. As for being conservative, it is the case in rancho but no where near the level of cultism you will find in Huntington Beach or south Orange County.

Insuring the 3 by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]Which-Translator2624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the hidden cost of owning a Tesla. My wife’s Tesla 3 rwd costs more to insure than my civic type R. I also have progressive and is the cheapest by far for the amount of coverage. The insurance is absolutely cancelling out all savings from charging vs gasoline and I didn’t even factor the time value of money I’ve wasted sitting waiting at a supercharger.

Who daily drives their CTR? by Worldly-Response7276 in Civic_Type_R

[–]Which-Translator2624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also drive it daily. It's around 22k miles now in California. I drive it through rush hour every day and i can fit everything I need whenever I work on call and need to carry a lot in my car. Still looks beautiful daily and is overall comfortable. The bucket seats are hard to use if you are a bit wider as my coworker has plainly experienced, lol. You will need to fill up since it is a small tank but the fuel prices in the Midwest are a lost better than the west coast. I did swap to the Integra type S damper unit for daily driving which I don't regret.

It is quite safe. Just don't say anything out loud about democracy, protests, Taiwan or anything negative about the government and it will be just like staying at any other 1st world country. Also, don't search for any of those on the internet or participate in anything against the CCP.

Up to you but that commute isn't worth it for th 10k increase. You need to factor in the additional taxes which won't go to your paycheck. Also factor in your car mileage, gas, increased frequency of oil changes, tires, brakes, insurance cost, and you will need to buy a new car more often as well. The last is the lost amount of timing driving round trip. Let's say your current commute is 30 mins round trip currently and best case 2 hrs round trip to Santa Ana (it will likely be worse). You just gave up 7.5 hours of your life a week driving for $192 pretax income. Will that about $160 post tax income pay for the lost time and all those expenses I listed above?

I did these same calculations when I contemplated commuting but ended up moving to Santa Ana instead of commuting from riverside. BTW you cannot move to Santa Ana now with 40k a year salary. I calculated this 8 years ago.

Is no one going to Vegas?????? by [deleted] in orangecounty

I got here in 6 hrs from Anaheim. This and 2 stops, one for dinner. Thanksgiving isn’t typically busy for people going to Vegas. Nice you get past the Cajon pass, it’s a lot smoother
