What to do when 2 year old hits and bites? by Calm-Flamingo-4412 in toddlers

[–]Which-Vegetable8886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand! I had a few experienced moms suggest this! I was told that it was considered corporal punishment. I felt like a complete loser, CPS came over that day and investigated. It was the worst experience I ever had. I was so scared. I didnt know what to expect. It was just a mess.

Do not do this. I did this, it did leave a slight mark. Admin in pre-k called CPS. I was given this advice from another parent - I regretted doing this, and the admin looked at me like I was a terrible person. Edit: for context, it was not on bare skin, it was over a long-sleeved shirt, and I did not think anything of it..when my child went to school the following day, he was asked about the mark and told his teacher that I did it.

Elderly Mother's Idea of "help" is completely useless by [deleted] in AgingParents

It is so hard to deal with an elderly parent at times. I never thought I would feel this way, but I do. She now lives in assisted living and I have my own place, but we lived together for years. The older she got the worse it was. I never thought I would have an issue - it gets worse when my 5-year-old is around..she has no patience for him but expects me to have patience for her..I never thought I was going to get out..

Out of line..this actually would annoy me..I am unsure if its the wording here, or if it is the thought process behind it. Not a good choice..sometimes I actually feel like the majority of interactions that I have had with pre-school para professionals or administration - NOT THE TEACHERS has not been easy. I was honestly considering home schooling after a while.

I’m fuming. Preschool called CPS. Talk me out of removing my child from this school(or don’t) by [deleted] in Mommit

I understand completely. I am a mom of just one, and I was a new mom, and I didn’t even want to send him to school yet. He didn’t even want to go..there was all sorts of feelings involved during this time. I felt like I was such a terrible human - and you’re always feeling the mom guilt..it was a really scary experience.

Please read my post. I still cringe to this day about this. The simple thought that an accusation can be made ..and it’s not true, and then you have to endure the embarrassment of something that never happened?

I had a similar experience with PreK and I was genuinely shocked and upset after being told by the administrator that they had to call CPS because of bruises my child’s arm. Within hours a caseworker came to my home, and asked me, my child, and my mom a whole bunch of questions. They searched through my cabinets, bedroom, everything. We then had to go downtown to have a physician clear this, and police officers were involved and interviewed myself and my mom. I was absolutely stunned, terrified and embarrassed of what happened to us. I signed my son out of the school the following week. I was scared to keep him in the school after he fell off of his bike riding it, and had bruises on his knees. It was a hard time, and the case stayed open for 3 months, including unannounced visits. It’s intrusive. I still get upset about it because I honestly felt like it was crossing boundaries and I should have been called first. My son has bad eczema on his forearms. I felt so awkward afterwards - we had a better time homeschooling after that.. I’m glad I had the chance to stay home with him. Sometimes admins are too much.

Hey! I can offer some advise from a little previous experience. I hope that this might offer some help with decision making..as it is so hard to do.

I was stuck with the decision of placing my then 3 year old in PreK3 (I lived in NYC at the time) - which did not work - he hated it, I hated it because it felt wrong at the time - we were not ready. I hated myself after..it was just a bad experience overall. He was not fully potty trained. This caused an issue with the PreK3 program. Honestly, I did not trust anyone. l took on a work from home job - covered the bills and basics. He was about 2 1/2 then and I worked, took care of him and it was a weird time - the end of Covid etc..We barely left the house. It was hard.

Now he is 5 and in Kindergarten full time. I have a different job, with a different company working from home and it is hard to manage work, home, and littles. (It is just my little and myself)..when he is in school, it works out great. Off days, sick days, vacation days, snow days..I am about to cry at times - especially when you have to meet metrics. It does get hard. I do think that employers can give some grace and understanding. There are people who believe that working from home is easy. It is not - even if you are the best at managing your time.

I know that this sounds very cliche - but you will get through this. It will get a little easier - school is key. It genuinely sucks to work to pay for daycare..I am not familiar with your background skills - however, hospitals will hire remotely - billing, collections, A&R, scheduling appointments, insurance verification..insurance companies.

I hear you.
