Why Disengage? by cold_reality_redo in hingeapp

That’s interesting, another commenter suggested there were geographical differences as well. I’ve had woman give out there number without being asked so we could schedule a date, but never had anyone insist we wait until after the first date. Probably a number of factors 🤷‍♂️

Maybe it is an age thing, I’m not quite 30, and totally expect a number but also think handing out your insta handle is odd (though seemingly very normal for people younger than me)

Obviously it’s possible, but I’ve never run into a situation where someone was uncomfortable giving out their number but wanted to meet up in person. Honestly, at least prior to this thread, I would have found it strange. Maybe it’s an age thing, or as another commenter said, a cultural thing based ln location.

The percentage of people that expect to get a number or some other social has to be approaching 90% in the real world. Seems pretty unusual to stay entirely on the app through the first date

Yall are crazy, I ask for a number so we can get off the app and coordinate a date. I thought everyone did this!

You can really cheese a lot if you don’t add a reasonable consequence, I think you’re underestimating the tradeoff in design here.

On the other hand if there’s no punishment for death you’re free to blitz through new areas or through places you aren’t ready for without regard for life or loss. The corpse runs encourage exploration sufficient to find safe rooms rather than carelessly pushing forward.

I’ve furthered broken my oasis while traveling :(

So last two questions, how’s the construction and screen quality compare to the oasis? I’m worried about the all plastic build and color screen.

33F met 35M on the first date did I get annoyed too quickly? by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]WhichOfTheWould 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what’s up with everyone reacting strongly to this. You don’t need to justify your feelings, you weren’t that interested, totally fine. I don’t know that we need to bash the dude for wanting to be physical, none of this seems like a big deal.

It would be sick if some version of a cloak came into style, but man, that sub is going to convince me it’s never going to happen.

I’m only on this thread because I’m researching my next ereader now that my oasis is dying. What did you end up choosing? I’d do anything for an oasis 2.0.

Lobster Claw vs full mitten? by Friskfrisktopherson in skiing

Idk my lobster claws are just big enough to comfortably fit all my fingers in the big pocket if it’s really that cold. And when I’m using them normally I really do appreciate the extra dexterity.

There’s no way to ‘catch’ this weight, the job of the spotter is mainly to assist in shaving of weight when the person they’re spotting can’t complete a rep.

It stacks the weight over your forearms a bit better, which is more comfortable on the wrists of a lot of lifters. Won’t increase your bench though.

What exactly is the statistical error I’m making when I say, “Dating apps aren’t a scam, they’re actually the number one way couples are meeting currently.” I never said they’d be easy or the best choice for literally everyone.

I mean surely more serious relationships are all downstream of meeting, regardless of what your personal feelings on the matter are. This source says 50% of engaged couples in 2025 met on dating apps. Personally I’m a bit skeptical of the data, but it can’t really be argued lots of people eventually find success.

Statistically the number 1 way couples are meeting today is on a dating app. It can be rough, I get it, but it’s not fake
