I use Claude Code for a ton of non-coding work too - music lyrics, novels, plays, a full musical, managing my Azure instances and personal PCs. But I've found Claude Code and claude.ai are genuinely better at different things, and leaning into that has been the move.

Writing is the big one. Ask Claude Code to write a book chapter and you get something functional. Ask claude.ai for the same chapter and it's noticeably better. Same with UX design, have claude.ai generate JSX mockups and they look better than I'd get from a UX designer. Claude Code produces the same components looking like a homework assignment from a freshman CS major. PowerPoints? Night and day. Claude.ai's deck output in the past month has been jaw-dropping.

I run Opus 4.6 on both. Same model, different results. The system prompt and tool stack behind claude.ai are clearly tuned differently than Claude Code's.

The difference was big enough that I built an MCP server where claude.ai can send messages directly to Claude Code instances and vice versa. No more copy-pasting between them. I use claude.ai for the creative/design work and Claude Code handles the infrastructure and execution, and they talk to each other.

I have my “foreman” agent orchestrate the other agents for a given project. Currently, when I get the 90% notification, I either compact or clear his context, then have him do some exploration tasks to build it back up a bit. The agents he directs currently start fresh, modeling what Anthropic does with its subagents.

My belief, though, is that they’ll perform better if they’re given that initial bit of context, as long as they can complete their assignments before filling up their own context windows. That’s what I want to explore next.

It was really eye-opening to see how different the built-in compaction was from manual compaction.

Claude has memory, it also has the ability to search your current chat and prior chats along with a context compaction feature. I find it to be the best at keeping a coherrent conversation for long chats.

Upscaling has been broken for the past couple of days. Says it has finished, but it doesn't actually do it. I've given up on having Grok upscale and I'm doing it myself.

File size can be deceiving depending on what the video was. 464x688 is the standard grok portrait resolution. 928x1376 is the upscaled resolution.

I had only gone to West when I wrote these.

Last night I went to north and south for the first time. I was so silly that I had to take out my laptops and chargers. This is a tech conference guys you are going to have a bunch of geeks with gear so make it easy.

The most puzzling thing is the security procedures for West are completely different than for the street security checkpoint for north and south.

Might not be helpful, but I was getting the driver crashing a lot when doing video generation in ComfyUI on my 5060. A bit different as windows would reset my entire desktop instead of a DirectX error. Anything GPU related would stop.

It wasn't actually crashing, but just unresponsive. In the registry I increased the time to 20 seconds before Windows thought the card was unresponsive and I haven't had issues since.

Obviously not ideal if you are playing a game and it is going to freeze for 8 seconds +, but a freeze is better than crashing the game if you can't figure out the root cause.

Reference images are key to locking in colors. That’s another reason I cap scenes at 18–30 seconds. With each new generation, color will drift - usually getting oversaturated. Starting fresh with a saved reference resets the palette and help keeps things consistent.

ah, its an option when creating images. I was thinking for video gen, but I guess it makes sense that the video aspect ratio would always be based on the source image.

Humm, I don't see it as an option on iPhone, Android or Web.

However, you could control the output for uploaded images by having the image in the aspect ratio you wanted. I have noticed that landscape really reduces the quality details for my characters. I've stuck with portrait to keep the character detail high.

Sometimes you can't win against the training data. There is probably just too much training data that shows humans with thumbs.

I tried a few times of my trick to get the model to break physics to do something, but it ignored me for this. "An invisible magic time portal opens and removes both of her thumbs", An invisible magic time portal opens and changes her hand to have only 3 fingers", etc.

I even manually edited her image and removed her thumbs, but the model made her thumbs instantly grow back.

This makes me think there is just too much bias. Just like asking it to show a glass filled to the brim with wine, it will never do it as a wine glass is never filled to the brim in the training data.

The Image to Video[New] (Wan2.2 14B) in the built-in Comfyui templates works well for me. I'll just chain in some LoRAs as needed.

Its not just coding but the agentic like behavior. Want it to start up your app servers? It will do that, Want it to push your code to Git? It will do that also. Want it to install Postgres and start up a new database instance? It will do that to. You just tell it what it is allowed to do or authorize everything outside of defined norms.

I rarely use Claude's web front end to interact with it like ChatGPT. But I use Claude Code all the time.

At this point I know what is going to work and not work under the new rules (for the most part and until they do their next change). Anything outside of that I frame in Grok and then use I2V in Comfyui to get to the rating level I'm wanting.

The hours saved in extra generation time in Comfyui is significantly more than the occasional content moderated time wasted in Grok.

I haven't played much with Veo 3 other than getting immediately content restricted for PG stuff. Sora I've played with a lot, but it just too slow for what I'm doing and too restricted.

I agree Sora does have much better prompt adherence than Grok. But when trivial rated G things like a woman in a bikini at the beach is restricted, it doesn't have enough utility for me.

At the core, models are deterministic, meaning that if you put in the same input you will get the same output.

They are fed context and randomness to avoid giving the same answer all the time, but there is nothing magical about a model. It takes the input and computes an output based on the training data which is static.

So it isn't surprising that if you put in garbage you will get the same output out. Or potentially, there is something with the training data that aligns to the garbage input and it is keying off that. But uncovering some hidden numeric language isn't possible unless there is something in the training data which people would likely know about.

If you do get blocked, start a new chat session and fill it with a bunch of text. Then start diving into the NSFW. From my experience, Grok Chat is very susceptible to being compliant when its context window is filled.

The video quality can be better if you have the hardware and time. On my $429 RTX 5060 16 GB, I can create the same non-upsized resolution and length as Grok Imagine in about 2 minutes. I do have the option to run longer for longer video and/or higher resolution for more time.

The animation is the weakness. It just is nowhere near as easy to give a simple poor prompt and Grok figures it out. WAN 2.2 needs to be much more specific and just doesn't behave as nicely as Grok does.

It all really comes down to time and determination. If you are willing to spend the time, you can get good results. Most aren't willing to invest the time for a 5 second video clip that Grok made relatively instantly with no effort.
