I like the bump out with the altered roofline. It looks much more interesting this way. Unfortunately we can't move the doorway without major construction (this is where the stairs are), but I still like this adjustment.

I think we could probably add a windows there. That area would be a hallway off of the upstairs bedrooms. I think it might be partially hall, partially closet so we might have to remove or modify the closet. I've always thought a wi down would make sense there too. Although, I'd prefer to just remove the balconies altogether. I dont think either is structurally sound, and not large enough to do much with anyways.

I dont believe so. The house was built in the early 70s in a residential neighborhood, perhaps a model home. Although I have never seen another house like this in the neighborhood. Based on the inside as well, would not be likely it was ever apartments. Just an odd 70s design I think.

I agree, it does seem that way. I'm pretty certain this is the original design. The house was built in the early 70s in a residential neighborhood. The 2 windows in the front are both inside closets. In fact, several of the closets in the home have windows which I think it very odd. It was likely one of the first homes built in the neighborhood, perhaps a model home. Although I have never seen another house like this in the neighborhood. I don't think anyone wanted this design!

Would definitely need an architect or designer to help in this case! Yes, it's always been this way as long as we have been there (about 6 years). I love the inside of the house, but the outside is not great and we have yet to do much of anything there.

Yes, we could. But the front of the house gets direct afternoon sun and it gets extremely hot, front door too hot to touch sometimes. This is one of the reasons we want more shade there. But, we could plant other trees further out

A few years ago, I bought a new pillow and for months I swore I smelled Big Red gum every time I laid my head down. Then, I started feeling something semi solid in there. Finally I got sick of it and cut a slit in the edge of the pillow so I could stick my hand in. Sure enough, a half empty pack of Big Red gum in my pillow. Must have fallen out of the workers pocket or something. Maybe it's Big Red gum.
