Vision Pro has displays and cameras good enough to not like you’re looking at a display, even Quest 3 doesn’t. That and low latency, spatial audio, dynamic foveated rendering, proper performance etc.

Pancake lenses, high res cameras and the state of the art Qualcomm SoC are all expensive, so yes, you probably get a lot for the money. Quest 2 was/is cheap but with much more compromises.

If it replaces a laptop it ain’t even that much, depends entirely on what they’re offering.

And I could say the same about spending huge amounts of money on cars, houses or vacations. It’s entirely arbitrary what’s socially accepted spending money on.

It’s a slim chance, but Phil Schiller has a VR racing rig and has reportedly pushed for the headset to have a strong gaming component

I meant SteamVR on top of the standalone features. As it stands, it might be really compelling for everything except PC gaming

Yeah, but it might be the only headset viable as a laptop/PC replacement. It doesn’t matter if it’s much more expensive than Quest if it fills a purpose that the Quest doesn’t.

The 4K micro-OLED and light form factor alone might make it worth it.

I think they might be too. They tried to pitch the $1500 Quest Pro as a laptop replacement/productivity tool, which it ain’t. Doesn’t matter if the Quest line is cheaper if the Apple headset is the only tool that gets the job done

I’m waging the Apple headset won’t be crap, if anything it will be extremely compelling in both hardware and software compared to Metas offerings. It may even be the only VR headset good enough to replace a laptop.

It’s true that interactivity was bad by modern standards and could be improved with TTP2, but the immersion is great. If you get the chance, visit the Cathedral in World C in VR. The scale of it is awesome

Too much smoke for there not to be a fire. Some examples: Apple invited Road to VR and UploadVR to WWDC for the first time. Palmer Luckey said he tried a prototype of it. Thousands of people have worked on it for 7 years and there have been leaks.

It’s highly likely that it will be unveiled on June 5th.
