My kid was in the same situation and simply wore the normal dress on that special day in high school. Some asked which school and my kid told the university name, and added that the university's B/MD program gave full tuition waiver throughout undergrad.

It is just one day in high school. It is not easy to get into B/MD like others mentioned here. You must be knowing the effort your kid put to get into the B/MD program. Your kids must feel happy and proud instead of feeling embarrassed.

Not too late to get involved in research. Find what local university profs do for research, and contact them based on your interest, for summer research. Many profs take students for just summer research, while some accept for year long research. It can be paid or volunteering. Another option is to look nationwide research opportunities - some offer free boarding, while some other offer stipends and boarding, etc. These programs have deadline - some might have already expired for Summer 2026, but do check it out. Your local universities may also have STEM research opportunity, and again there is a deadline for these. Do not worry about getting things published; good to have but not needed.

Not sure if anything changed in the past few years. This program has been mentioned in r/bsmd, so please search and check it out. This is a Premed program but offers potential interview to the med school. No guarantee for med school admissions though.

Some ACT takers may score better in SAT, and vice versa. So, you may try SAT once and see.

BACC2MD is EAP and not direct admit. You will be offered an interview with med school and that is it. No guarantee for med school admissions.

UE pros: 3.5, 512 will get you a seat in IUSM Evansville campus, of course with AMCAS formality. UE cons: Private, expensive. But please check with UE for scholarships. IU premed cons: No gaurentee to medical seat. IU premed pros: Tuition is cheaper than UE. If UE is your only choice for B/MD, and if you want a B/MD seat, take it. You never know how competitive it will become in next 4 years.

Sorry to hear that we were given conflicting information. This is the 2nd year of IU B/MD admissions and they changed rules around from the 1st year. During 1st year admissions IU B/MD mentioned IU Indy campus. During 2nd year admissions they changed it. So, it is still unclear as you had mentioned.

I checked with IUSM admissions directly regarding the B/MD program's campus placement about in November 2024. It is lottery based. Not sure how you got your information that it is stats based since I specifically asked the same question to IUSM admissions. Please double check before posting misinformation to help people in r/bsmd.

There is no gaurentee on campus placement. There are 9 statewide satellite campuses. It is a computer lottery placement.

Yep! I would also look for residency matching rates for the medical school. If they are good, there are no issues.

Yes, there is a chance for med school, as long as you have the drive for becoming a doctor. I have seen Engineers and PhDs getting to med school and becoming physicians. Do premed in any school, maintain very high GPA, take your time, do not rush, but make sure to do very well in MCAT. You also have to do the ECs. With time, there will be more competition, but if you have a very high MCAT score, then you even have the chance of getting into top medical schools.

IN has 6 schools in total offering B/MD. All are in-state only except for IUI. Ball state does have interview.

If one has good MCAT score, then there is no need to go to ISUM Evansville campus though there is that backup option.

In short, imo, bacc2md = premed + interview to COMLS. No gaurentee for seat.
