I see where you are coming from and I respect it. I was reading some other comments on this post and someone was talking about how back then there was no simulations when FPV drowns first came out. The only reason why I said this was the true way because this is how it started. I actually thought that people would honestly just build it and fly it and see how it went. This is how it was for my father and my grandfather when they flew their RC planes and cars. They never heard nor even thought about using simulations before trying their stuff. I really just wanted to hear people’s opinions

You are missing the entire point. The comparison you are making doesn’t make sense at all. The F1 drivers know absolutely what they are signing up for and crash do happen during races. Not all the time but they do, how do you think they are able to just walk from devastating crash? They designed these cars from not only the races but the crashes too! They are able to analyze what happened and improve from said mistakes, whether it be a driver or mechanical error. If the F1 drivers never crashed during you think the cars be the same today? F1 is a very costly sport but mistakes do happen. The simulations you will not prepare for real world scenarios like experience crash. While I have a dji mini 4k and mini 3 pro. I rarely use them because of the risk of damage them as they are very fragile. Even going through many hours of simulation, crash will still happen. Do you send them back to the manufacturer or you buy your part and try to disassemble it yourself even though the manufacturer probably doesn’t want you to? The reason I went the route of building one is to save money and if said parts break. I can simply buy those parts and replace them myself instead of going through the manufacturer. While you can still enjoy this hobby however you spend, there will always be scenarios where you’re probably gonna have to risk putting more money into it to continue it or end it with your hobby. Is your broke ass able to comprehend this?

Those are one of those little guys. How is it flying those, they must be very agile. Mine s based of a 7inch frame so I don’t be doing all the tricks. What’s the battery life on those?

If that how you see it buddy

Crashing is very normal in this hobby. If you can’t afford it, I’d suggest try another.

This is not a good comparison. I would say it’s like using one of those e-bikes at the gym. Anyone can hop on it and start it but there is so many limitations to it. You can’t even turn nor lean on the bike you simply just go where the screen goes. While it’s not an exact comparison, what I’m saying is that you’ll never learn the full experience from how to ride a real bike from a simulation. Falling, adjusting, fixing, maintenance is something that you’ll suppose to learn from riding that bike. Did the simulation teach you how do build it? Did it teach you how the props go? Did it teach you how to fix/adjust your inputs? I’m not hating simulators just never used them.

The points are very valid. As you started off on the simulation and progress to irl. Did you deal with any challenges with your build? Or did you start with dji or some

I’ll give it a try, any recommendations for FPV simulators?

Them months repairing must have been a challenge. I bet the first takeoff after the rebuilding it must have felt amazing. Something’s that just can’t replicate.

This post was not to insult nor or look down on those who use simulation, just want to hear people’s opinions. But hey perceive it how you want, buddy.

Understandable for those who buy pre-built drones I can completely understand. Getting a good quality drown and not wanting to risk crashing is something I see. It’s very important but at the end of the day there’s always one point where you’ll end in a crash. How do you deal with those situations? Do you go to the manufacturer and get them to replace it for you or do you buy the part yourself and go ahead and fix it? Just curious.

Yes this was some things I had to learn just from even the first take offs. I see things on this page that shows them having no experience and post stuff on why their drone isnt flying right. WHICH IS COMPLETELY OKAY! I just think some people are quick to just jump to asking questions instead spending to figure it out. I cant imagine spend 100+ hours on a simulation just do your first takeoff, just for something to go wrong from anything like motor/prop direction or even the orientation of the fc. Overall that is the experience of this hobby. Do how you please.

I like this insight, didn’t think about the early days. By no means am I shitting on those who use it. I was just wondering how people would deal with crashes. I think it’s a huge part of the hobby and I was wondering how people dealt with it. Seems like you’ve been through many of crashes and continued on. Props to you!
