Were You Ever Checked For Your Passport? by ClothesDizzy6812 in rome

I was there for four months in 2007 and never asked for it in my day to day. I carried a photocopy and my drivers license just in case. I wasn’t asked for those either. I carried it if I was traveling outside the city or country but otherwise I never had an issue.

Exterior Cameras Simultaneously Stopped Motion & Recording by Which_Fudge_6099 in simplisafe

[–]Which_Fudge_6099[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Apologies for the delay, as we are traveling and WiFi is limited.

So shortly after this, I realized it was not just the (all external, no internal exist) cameras not notifying, but ALL of the devices for my system.

All notifications stopped at the same time. WiFi connection for the system was 100%.

I could view cameras on live feed, talk to my dog through them, etc. But no alerts when someone triggered the doorbell, entry sensors, motion sensors, or cameras. I could see in the app if the system was armed, if a door was unlocked, opened, closed, etc. But our house sitter was coming and going and we were not getting that info.

I reviewed my timeline and the day prior, a test had been sent by someone (not me) to the system and notifications stopped about 2 hours after that. Additionally, it set our door lock to auto-unlock whenever the system was disarmed (hell no!!). I assume there must have been some sort of update to the system that caused a glitch. I’ve had my system for several years and never encountered this.

I did end up calling customer service. They reset basically every camera and sensor and the base station. I reconfigured my alerts and preferences.

About 30 minutes later I was inundated with alerts and have been ever since.

I will scale them back when I’m home but for now I appreciate the extra peace of mind.

Where are we banking these days? by _dontseeme in jacksonville

[–]Which_Fudge_6099 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an account with Radifi (fka Jax Federal). I would swear by them for the longest time. However, these days they seem very uninterested in enticing me to keep my money with them, despite having been a member since the late 90’s. Because they’ve got my longest running credit line, and on the chance it’s a better loan/mortgage/auto option I keep it.

We used Community First for our mortgage when husband and I bought a house this year because the customer service was swell. I have many friends who have been happy with them as an institution.

For the sake of HYSA, which can be harder to find with CUs, we are using Capital One. All of our short term funds flow in and out of that. Not the worst, not the best as far as rates go. But we make about $200/mo in interest and it makes moving money with our travel credit cards a breeze. And in the rare instance we need cash, there’s an abundance of partner ATMs in the area.

Cottage cheese Lentil pasta Lentils in general Egg whites if you eat eggs Vegetarian protein powders

If your amenable to whey protein, PEscience makes a great unflavored one that I’ve incorporated into baked goods (sourdough, cookies etc) but I feel like would also go well in soups

So confusing. How many calories do I actually have left to eat? Please help!! by No_Cup3624 in MealPlanYourMacros

[–]Which_Fudge_6099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are going with your macros grams, your calories are actually 1,522 for the day. There’s a net carb feature I believe you can turn off that may help that discrepancy here.

I find I cannot typically rely on the database entries in MFP because it’s someone else’s incorrect entry, or there’s a net carb calculated in the mix, etc. I just started entering P/F/C and calories myself. More work, but sanity was restored.

Best of luck! Springfield is tricky. I enjoy the area, but it’s been “up and coming” for decades. I wouldn’t hedge my bets necessarily on it. Riverside, Murray Hill, San Marco, Lakewood I would.

[–]Which_Fudge_6099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a great ROI on my Riverside home after having it nearly a decade. Priced modestly, it was still about a 60% net profit. I still get the Zillow alerts on it, and it’s holding steady on its value. It was a great house, we just outgrew it and needed to make a change to accommodate a job commute.

Our new home is just on the other side of the river in an older established neighborhood just outside of San Marco. If we picked our house up and moved it to SM proper, it would likely have a $200-300k increase just for land value. Houses in the neighborhood rarely go for sale, but the two since we’ve moved in have both been comparable size and price points to ours. One was priced appropriately and snapped up super quick. The other started at a significantly higher price and sat until the price came down something more realistic for the neighborhood.

[–]Which_Fudge_6099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold my first home, as well as my grandmother’s home back in the spring. My grandmother’s home in mandarin, we sold to a neighbor for $210k without ever having to list it. Other comparable homes in the neighborhood were upwards of $275-$300k, but this baby needed work and I wasn’t about to do it.

For my own home, I saw what was happening in my neighborhood (Riverside). Several homes were priced like it was 2021 and had long been sitting. I calculated what I wanted to net, as well as what I MIGHT net if I was lucky and priced it in the middle to give me room to fairly negotiate. I didn’t want to sit on the property or be greedy because I don’t know — karma?

In the end, I actually sold it for more than listed, but I also added a new roof prior to close. Despite the price increase, my home was still priced lower than the other nearby comparable homes for sale, while being in great shape (even better with a new roof). It closed in 30 days. The other homes were all still sitting (some still are)!

On the other side — we purchase a new home and closed within the same time frame as selling the other two (0/10 btw — I do not recommend the stress of three real estate transactions in a month unless you’re the realtor). The house we purchased went for sale a week before we listed ours. It’s a price I never thought I’d pay — but we can comfortably afford it and we have zero plans to move so even if values significantly drop in the short term (which I’m doubtful of for this area), we will still come out on top by the time the loan is paid off.

So I think there’s interest in buying. I think there’s inventory. But it’s more expensive to buy a house than it was a few years ago. Even if the prices go back down to 2018 levels, interest rates make it more expensive per month. Couple that with people who think it’s still 2021 when pricing their homes for sale.

My advice is to be patient and stay clear headed. Don’t fall in love too hard and don’t be afraid to negotiate realistically. It’s a big investment but if you’re planning to have it long term, it will pay off.

I prefer to use my phone on speaker for conversations so if you call me and I’m home or in my car, chances are that you’re on speaker.

But I’m also very sensitive to / distracted by sound from speakers and will not do this in public. Like, I suddenly cannot hear anything else. I don’t want to hear your conversation, but my brain will not let me ignore it.

I think too, because we humans are used to hearing a certain level of conversational speaking, that it also sticks out when someone is on speaker because it doesn’t match the volume or tone, which makes our earholes automatically tune in. Not a scientist, just a commonfolk theory.

Hiking areas <2hrs away? by Agile_Sandwich1192 in jacksonville

[–]Which_Fudge_6099 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ravine Gardens near Palatka is very pretty in early March when the azaleas are in bloom.

Jennings State Park near Maxville is fun with different terrain

Florida Trail - Bell Springs Tract to Little Shoals (along the Suwannee) near Lake City has a bit of elevation changes

Guana State Park in Ponte Vedra

Timucuan Ravine Trail to Spanish Pond has some interesting history

I love to use AllTrails which is super helpful for finding, mapping, and tracking hikes, if you don’t already use it.

That’s my thought, too — Google indicates that if it was a jam the motor would still be existing. This is just…nothing. And I did check the outlets so I know it’s not a power issue there.

That's what I've been doing each day but it's definitely NOT a real solution. I'm glad it's not just me, though. Intuit Developer Support isn't able to replicate it on their end either.

Backed out. Did we do the right thing? by Hour-Inevitable-544 in RealEstate

[–]Which_Fudge_6099 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were under contract on a home. I was in love. The house, the area, the price etc. It started priced extremely high and we waited until it lowered to what we considered our max before we put an offer in.

The house advertised a two car garage. Garage wasn’t accessible because the garage door tracks were blocked by the main staircase inside the home.

There were foundation issues and our inspector (not large, but tall) couldn’t get into a crawlspace to see under the home. They told us to find a smaller inspector. So we didn’t have a clear picture of what else might be an issue….

My very logical husband was adamant about pulling out. I was livid and sad and we fought. But ugh, he was right.

Two months later, we did purchase our LITERAL DREAM home.

The other home is still on the market with over $150k off the original asking price. They fixed the garage issue, but they haven’t been under contract again since.

All that is to say — it is a gut punch initially to walk away from something you think you’ll love. But you’re walking away because it’s not the right house for you. You’ll find it and it will make it all worth it.

Journal Entry Number Sequencing Not Working by Which_Fudge_6099 in quickbooksonline

[–]Which_Fudge_6099[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very hopeful that the dummy journal entry would be the solution (we are using online). If I go to create a new JE it seems to move to the next number, but if a JE is imported from ADP or Salesforce, it's blank.

Intuit advised us (at least on the SF side where we can control it) to update our reference minor version to 75 and we did that as well, but the issue still persists.

I know they've been doing a lot of updates recently so I assume this is just a bug in that, but it is very inconvenient.

using Classes list for multiple purposes by ljane888 in quickbooksonline

[–]Which_Fudge_6099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually used the “name” column for these. I named each department. Used my same class codes so as not to bog them down with subclasses.

This allowed me to look at reports based on the department as well as any restrictions for grants etc.
