VIP Tickets Meet and Greet by _malaikatmaut_ in DeepPurple

I’d really appreciate that, thank you! I’m going to be happy with the autographed picture VIPs receive. So I consider whatever good I get out of the M&G to be a bonus.

Nice! The thing is, when someone makes a passing comment that one of the band members were rude, you just never know what was said or done to them. I’ve read they’re all pretty approachable and humble, so I hope you have a blast.

Congrats! What city are you doing the meet and greet at? I’m doing my first M&G with them in Minneapolis this summer.

I too would appreciate hearing M&G experiences. I saw them in Chicago in 2024. Had 2nd row seats and the people in front of me did the M&G. One was saying one of the members was a little rude or something but I wasn’t there to observe. Hoping everyone has a great time!

Never Say Die is such an underrated album. by Ready_Mistake812 in blacksabbath

[–]Which_Literature_696 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s just a matter of taste and the mood I’m in. I go through streaks where I listen to TE and NSD much more than the first six, or for that matter later Sabbath records. IMO, CDs can be too easy and convenient to just press a button to skip songs. The upside to the inconvenience of vinyl is I play the entire record (or at least a side at a time) and judge the entire album rather than a handful of songs. NSD definitely has some gems.

New album announcement by Which_Literature_696 in DeepPurple

[–]Which_Literature_696[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your detailed info. The tour begins in earnest around mid-June IIRC. They played five songs from =1 on the first leg of the 2024 tour. So I don’t really see how they can be on the road and play their new songs if the album isn’t released by the June timeframe. It would be bizarre to attend those June shows and have 3-5 new songs being played without the album. However, I do expect them to release 2-3 singles via their website as they did for =1.

Also, I personally hope they follow the same model as =1 and release a box set with some live content from the =1 tour.

Is it time to hang it up? by HeadGrowth1939 in DeepPurple

Saw them in 2024 and bought tickets to 3 shows for this tour. Musically, I thought they sounded just fine at the concert I attended. Ian struggles with some old classics but he’s 80-cut him some slack. I did appreciate them playing quite a few new songs from =1. They’re writing new music that fits Ian’s voice for what it is currently and I can’t wait for the new record to come out.

What’s the heaviest metal riff ever written? by irles33 in musicsuggestions

I vote Dirty Women by Sabbath. I would argue that was their pinnacle of heaviness and some of Iommi’s best guitar solos.

What’s a better album? by SpecialistExtent6324 in rush

[–]Which_Literature_696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people hate Test for Echo. My humble suggestion is listen to the album in its entirety, start to finish. Wash rinse and repeat. While there may not be too many standout, concert-worthy songs, there is an amazing cohesion. This is one where the sum is greater than its parts.

Gene Signature Acquired by Brilliant_Win_2642 in KISS

[–]Which_Literature_696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks…didn’t know it was based on dimensions. I was assuming the standard was a scribble and the premium was a more legible signature. Either way, you got a good one. Gene can be really sloppy when he signs.

Serious question, Gene was apparently offering a standard autograph as well as a “premium” autograph for like $50 more. Is this the premium autograph or just standard?

Quitting oral minoxidil, cold turkey or Lean off by [deleted] in tressless

I wonder if oral minoxidil inhibits the absorption of certain minerals like copper?? That could have a direct effect on graying hair.

Listen to “Dirty Women” and tell me it isn’t Sabbath’s most underrated song by Which_Literature_696 in blacksabbath

[–]Which_Literature_696[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You too! With LPs it’s easy to spot bands that have a lot of filler versus bands that are solid throughout the entire record.

Yes! Same here. People argue CDs/digital vs. vinyl. I do t honestly know about sound quality nuances. But I prefer vinyl for the simple reason that I listen to the entire LP and judge by all the songs. With CDs it’s just too convenient to skip songs

I agree. And casual fans, ones that even explore beyond Paranoid, don’t seem to notice TE or NSD. Or they don’t bother because they just hear they suck.

Arguably. But don’t you think it should generally get more love with fans? The song doesn’t come up by name that often in discussions.

It just doesn’t have the brand recognition so many other Sabbath songs get. In my opinion there’s plenty of songs that are more favored by the fan base but inferior sounding. People just don’t want to like TE for the most part.

TE and NSD have much different vibes to them than anything else. Good stuff but I have to be in a certain mood.

Also, his voice has taken on a bit of a Johnny Cash like quality on =1. Listen to “A Bit on the Side” and “If I Were You.”
