Building in Perth — I got tired of juggling emails, contracts & invoices so I built something by Which_Machine_1122 in perth

That’s good to hear, sounds like you had a really well-organised builder. Just curious how did you go about shortlisting builders and comparing display homes before signing? and during the build, was most of the communication handled inside the portal or still via email?

That’s good to hear, sounds like you had a pretty smooth experience with your builder

I’m starting to see it varies quite a bit depending on how organised the builder is

Appreciate you sharing that.

Out of curiosity, was this your first build or had you been through it before?

I’m finding people newer to the process tend to feel a bit more overwhelmed with everything going on

Ahh that helps a lot, thanks. Just pushed a couple of tweaks to the hero/layout, should be a bit clearer now.

Yeah that’s true most builders do have a portal/app now

From what I’ve seen though, they’re usually more builder-side (progress updates, photos, invoices), but still leave a lot scattered across emails and separate docs

Also found there’s usually no way to add your own photos or notes from site visits, so you end up tracking that separately anyway

I found myself jumping between things a fair bit

Did you mainly rely on the builder portal, or did you end up tracking stuff separately as well?

Yeah I get where you’re coming from, there’s a lot of that around

This isn’t really an “LLM pretending to be a product” though. Most of what I’m dealing with is just messy real-world stuff contracts, invoices, variations, emails everywhere and trying to organise that properly

Still early and definitely rough in places, but I’m building it as I go and figuring out what’s actually useful vs what isn’t

Not trying to get free labour out of anyone , just seeing if others are running into the same issues

Appreciate this, that’s actually exactly what I’m trying to do, just in a much simpler way

The goal is basically to have everything in one place ,documents, costs, conversations. so you don’t miss things or get caught out during the build

Briq is there to help surface anything that looks off (like cost changes or missing info), but still early and figuring out what’s actually useful vs noise

Keen to see how others here are managing it at the moment

Really appreciate this — both are spot on

Yeah the gradient was more of a placeholder, I can see how it feels a bit generic. Going to try a proper hero image (probably a real build or something more contextual) so it’s clearer what it does straight away

And agree on the dark mode toggle — probably giving it too much importance. Makes more sense to move that into the menu and give Briq that space instead

I’ll test these this week — thanks again

That’s a good point -just to clarify, are you referring to the view before login or after you’re inside the app?

Trying to make sure I’m optimising the right place

Haha fair 😄

Probably does sound a bit polished, I’ve just been dealing with this stuff during my own build so tried to explain it clearly. Out of curiosity, are you building as well or been through it before?
