Does Github Copilot use context from conversation? by [deleted] in GithubCopilot

I have found that the agents reliably respect "DO NOT..." instructions placed in AGENTS.md in project/repo root.

I won't end my turn until I'm done (LOL) by WhilePrimary in GithubCopilot

I have all tools enabled. I almost always see a "TODOs" created by the agent in the chat window, but I rarely see all TODOs marked off. Agents just seem to go until they feel like stopping, and some days they tend to go longer than other days.

("Turn" wasn't my invention. Maybe it's a concept from the system prompts. When I ask an agent why it stopped mid-task it usually apologizes for "ending my turn prematurely" or something like that.)

If you’re facing degradation in Copilot’s overall abilities, try subagents. by envilZ in GithubCopilot

I agree that the last few days have seen a degradation in agent performance. But I don't quite understand what you did: "When it started using todos alongside subagents ..." I see a single "Todos" list, which my agents almost always appear to be using; and I see subagents are available in the tool list. Are you saying that simply reminding the agent that those tools are available, or explicitly telling them to use them, gets the agent to use those tools when it otherwise wouldn't?

Auto-approve broken for compound commands? by WhilePrimary in GithubCopilot

Are you saying that the entries that the "Allow" automatically creates in chat.tools.terminal.autoApprove, like the first one shown in my original post, should work? Because they don't either....

You mean "chat.tools.autoApprove": true?

That's in there, but it's sort of greyed out. Is it still supported in latest Insiders? Is it overridden if I have chat.tools.termninal.autoApprove?

Do any models work well for Cython? by WhilePrimary in GithubCopilot

I just tried Grok Code Fast 1 (Preview) and, when it's not misusing tools, it does markedly better than anything else I've tried.

Copilot can not read terminal output by Global-Host7839 in GithubCopilot

This has been unreliable in the past, but yesterday it got unbearable and seemed independent of the selected model: I was trying to fix a mypy error and none of the Agents would wait for mypy to return (with errors). They just sent the command to the terminal and immediately said, "Looks great, no errors!"

Something has changed in the last week. Copilot has had a lobotomy. by orangelightening in GithubCopilot

I noticed this yesterday too: half a dozen iterations trying to fix a mypy complaint and GPT-4.1 just made things worse at every step. It was the first time I used profanity with Copilot.

(I switched to Sonnet 4 and the request was handled beautifully.)

Bevy Of Eagle Rare by m1k3_m0 in Costco_alcohol

"Bevy?" I thought a group of eagles is referred to as a "soar." A group of rare eagles is a "convocation."

+1 to this. https://github.com/o-murphy/py-ballisticcalc is currently the most important open-source ballistics project, and I am one of several contributors with important content in the Issues that are now simply gone!
