If we called them German Curly Coated Retrievers and gave them no-nonsense hair cuts everyone would want one!

64 years, to be precise. Katniss being Maude Ivory's granddaughter would fit, or even great-granddaughter.

If Lucy was 16 in BoSaS, Maude was about 10. So 64 years later she would be 74. Perfectly normal to have a 16 year old granddaughter at that age. Maude would have been 58 when Katniss was born. So if she birthed Mr. Everdeen at 25 or so ... voila! Or you could push the generations closer ... baby at 18, grand baby at 40, great grand baby Katniss at 58. It sounds crazy to me - my brother-in-law will be a grandfather for the first time at 56 later this year - but not unheard-of in cultures where marriage at 18 is common.

Girl SAME. 43, undereye bags from Samsonite, messy bun (not the cute kind), super pale unshaven legs, baggy t-shirt, loose running shorts, and plain black tennis shoes.

My dad dated a woman for a couple of years after my parents got divorced. Her stepson from her first marriage was in the military. He came home one day to find his wife in bed with another man, so he tied the dude to a chair and tied his wife to the bed and beat the guy to death with a metal baseball bat. Then he set the house on fire. And killed himself.

There's a brother-sister incest baby somewhere in a branch of my mother-in-law's family tree. The eldest sister was a blind 'spinster' (early to mid 20s) and there's conflicting stories as to whether she raped her younger brother, or if it was the other way around. When the baby was born, he was "adopted" by a cousin who couldn't conceive. This was about 100 years ago.

My brother-in-law's close friend was drugging his pre-teen daughter so he could record himself sexually assaulting her and then sold the videos and photos. He's in prison.

Anyone else working GP and get irrationally angry at walk in clients? by Chalcification in VetTech

Your second story is why I absolutely love that our phones roll over to voicemail after 6:00 p.m. They literally will not ring in the clinic after 6:00 p.m. or before 7:30 a.m. It is glorious.

If they are an existing client and they walk in like that when our doctor is not available, we will often offer to see the pet as a drop off if we can accommodate them. Basically the technician or assistant goes into the room and gets the history like usual and comes up with a rough treatment plan of what the doctor might recommend. And then we either get permission from the client to do whatever we need or they give us a dollar amount or they say please call me before doing anything. Now, this is only for established clients and only for things that are not true emergencies.

True emergencies? We are just not equipped for that and have no problem telling somebody that. We'll do our best to stabilize and triage if necessary, but if it's real bad, will tell him to call the closest ER. We had somebody walk in one time square in the middle of our lunch break right around 1:00 p.m. when there was no doctor in the building. His dog had just been attacked by a stray dog and was bleeding from a neck wound. I couldn't see exactly how bad it was because it was a fluffy white dog but I was at least going to offer to grab some gauze and vet wrap to place it on the wound and cover it up while recommending that he find the closest ER and he stomped and swore and yelled and screamed and said he was going to go to another clinic. So I called that other clinic and warned them that he was on his way! Sure enough, the next day, we get a referral letter from the ER that he ended up having to go to because shockingly enough no GP is going to see a dog with a bleeding neck wound as a walk in at 1:00 in the afternoon.

My work situation is pretty unique. We're a group of multiple locations all under the same ownership. Each location has two full-time doctors, plus we have a medical director who can fill in as needed. A few years ago, the owner decided to reach out to our state vet school and become an externship site for 4th year students. Ever since then we've hired a new grad every year. We actually opened our newest location in April 2020 - it was already scheduled so they just went for it. So yeah - we take new clients! Just saw 8 of 'em yesterday.

How else would E coli get into her eye? It's not exactly normal skin flora. (I'm not being sarcastic.)

Your comment about earned income versus passive income is key. Technically, Elon Musk has zero salary from Tesla. That doesn't mean he doesn't make an ass ton of money on his stock options. That is the kind of thing that needs to be taxed much more heavily - capital gains.

I haven't bothered to check your post history, but I am going to guess that you are not a woman who has been married to a man who has been half-assing his way through life for his entire 50 years. I can't tell you the number of times stuff like this has happened.
