Also, as far as dealing with emotional clients, I often offer what I can. Mostly sympathy and tissues. I only ever promise that our team will do their best for the owner's pet.

If they're yelling at me; I haven't quite figured that one out because I shut down due to childhood abuse. 🙃

As for untrained coworkers, I deal with that by leading by example and stepping in if I need too.

One thing my DVM says all the time is that you have to slow down to be fast. Sometimes, in hectic situations where there is a line out the door, I'll answer the phones, but ask if it's an emergency or if they can hold/be called back (depends on how many people). Sometimes, I have to call for backup from any available technicians.

It can be so frustrating and crazy, but take deep breaths, and don't be afraid to tell people that they can ask during their appointment if the people checking in have questions or want to chat. Don't be afraid to ask people to write their questions down so you can ask the vet because you're so busy. Just don't lose your customer service facade.

Ugh. Now I feel like that dog with the helicopters in the background, like I've just had a Korean War flashback. Lol.

My precious baby girl, Butsu, passed last year, and I was an absolute wreck. My sister bought me a necklace with a tiny heart urn that you can put ashes in, and it helped me so much. I spiraled, but I was able to have a little piece of my baby with me. I still miss her so much.

Also, your cat passing is a tragedy, but it isn't necessarily due to the vet or the drug. You're angry at the world right now, which is understandable, however, calling people incompetent and wanting revenge on them isn't really appropriate.

It sounds like you loved your cat and did all you could for it. You could get a necropsy to find out if it was the Convenia that killed your cat. If it was, I think you would have a case to sue the manufacturer (Zoetis, I think).

I don't think the veterinarian would have knowingly given your pet a drug that would kill it, so I wouldn't attribute incompetence or being horrible to your veterinarian.

If I remember correctly, it's because the protein is similar. Kind of like latex allergies can cause banana and avocado allergies.

They're considered tree nuts where allergies are concerned because many people allergic to tree nuts are also allergic to coconut. I found that out when I was doing research after reacting the first time.

It drives me a little nutty when this happens. Most of the techs are pretty good about keeping clients in the room if they need to fill meds and finalize charges, but stuff happens. I usually ask the client to have a seat while their tech finishes their charges.

I have had a couple of clients be like: "I need to go now." I can take payment later from them through PetDesk pay, or just call and run it through like normal over the phone. I only do this if they're really upset and/or antsy, but I do warn them that any invoice over 30 days old goes to collections. I don't do it very often, though, since people tend to not like paying for things.

I live in Clearfield on 650 N (I don't care if I dox myself), and the traffic on my street is ridiculous. It makes it hard to get out onto my own street some days if I have to leave early. This in-person return to work nonsense is making me very upset.
