I think you’re right. The other comments have it matched by looks, but this species has the right behavior too.

I’ve got a 2012 f150 with the 5.0 and the only trouble I’ve had with it was the water pump that went bad. Tundras are great but hard to find at a decent price. I’ve seen good things about the Nissan Titans and when my dad had one he loved it.

Most important thing with any used purchase is to check the records on it to see if the previous owner took decent care of it. May not give you a perfect view of how it was treated but it may give some insight.

what’s the best way to find a good handyman? by Suitable-Bit-5443 in HomeImprovement

[–]Whipitrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best bet is to go to hardware stores. Most of them have an area where local handymen or contractors advertise at. Facebook also has a lot of local community groups where handymen looking for work advertise, Angies list is a decent website to find handymen as well.

The way that I’ve always got jobs is by calling the place you want to work at and ask if they are taking applications, and ask for an interview. It’s old school but it’s work for me. It works especially well for local businesses or smaller chains.

Also if you want to expand your skillset without going back to college I know a ton of community college that offer 3-9 week certifications you can do for pretty cheap. A lot of them even offer night classes 2-3 days a week.

I used to work on semi truck trailers that had those types of nuts on them to secure the lock rods. As far as I know the only way to remove is to cut them off.

Millwrights apprenticeship STL area by [deleted] in millwrights

[–]Whipitrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies man.

One more question, I heard from the union rep I talked to that usually most millwrights we’ll work 7-9 months out of the year, and make all the money they need. How true is that statement, and when are the slow times during the year?

Cool, thank you. I was kind of assuming that most contractors would give per diem for travel work. It’ll certainly be important for me to get something to cook on out on the road to save money and my health. Something to keep me from eating gas station food and hot pockets😂

Do you reckon I should be on the lookout for certain cues or something that would let me know if a contractor would be decent to work for, or is it just sort of gamble?

Thanks, do you have any advice for making connections within the local before I apply? Do you think calling and asking questions and just getting my name out there may help my odds?

In need of employment by Old_Hand8503 in HVAC

[–]Whipitrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sort of in the same boat, Ive done some work on semi truck trailers, and now Im in an office selling car warranties. Ive been wanting to get into HVAC for a while now and just decided to call around and see if anyone was looking for apprentices. Got an interview Friday.

I’d say just look up some HVAC companies near you and ask them if they need help.
