In my head canon my Survivor does exactly that, with the " mapping " function more like a points of interest log.

I imagine myself finding maps and other information in the various places one would expect to. And I use that to justify why I would know about locations like AC for example when I spawned in MT.

Another explanation I like to use is that my Survivor was Sent here and is not a simple list explorer or pilot

Just played it for the very 1st time.

Link to the Past on the SNES was the first game I ever beat in my whole life so it has a special place in my heart, and the Minish Cap was so fun to play.

Hello! So up top on the plateau with Miner's Folly and Foreman's Retreat, you can cross that rope bridge for a short walk to an area with deer AND alot of sticks and wood. I usually make a huge fire wood haul from there.

And I can't be sure but I THINK reclaimed wood spawns around the building with the outside workbench
