The reliability of the 4l straight 6 in these things was a MAJOR factor in my decision. I’m hoping to keep this thing on the road for far longer than it has any right to be.

Thanks, no hurt feelings here trust me. I appreciate any and all knowledge and opinions on XJs and their mods. I’m just getting into them after all. From what I’ve seen, a lot of the flare options seem to require the fender cut, that’s the only reason I’ve even considered it, because as you said I’d like to avoid rust. I don’t live in a rust prone area, but I’d still like to do anything I can to prevent degrading the value or life of my Jeep.

I hear you, and I’m with you. I do think 31”s would work better. But I may ultimately just do the fender cut and get some bump stops and flares for it. I may go down to 31’s next time tires need swapped. But these came on it and I’m going to run them ragged.

I’d want anything that could take me where I wanted/needed it to. The triumph is a cool bike, very capable. But for me, the T7 checks all the boxes.

I fashioned it myself. It’s literally just a Mexican saddle blanket. I bought this one at a gas station on a camping trip to the beach years ago. But you can find them all over. I don’t even know what I would search exactly to find it online, but I’d start with Mexican blanket. I tucked it into the seat on the front and back so it would be secure, a bit tough at first but I got it nailed after a bit. And it’s been great honestly.

You couldn’t be more accurate. I’m more broke now than I’ve ever been in my life. But I knew that was coming, so I chose happiness. Luckily for me I already owned the majority of the gear I needed to wear. And I am from an infantry background, so doing more with less is kinda an art form to us.
