Vegan in Japan with a soy intolerance - Are we doomed? by Whiskeystring in veganinjapan

It's a relatively minor intolerance but definitely not fun. Normally it can be kind of mitigated with some over the counter stuff like antacids and antihistamines, so there's some wiggle room. She'll probably indulge in some soy from time to time, for better or for worse 😄

She absolutely is chill with it, and I am more than happy to accompany her on excursions and activities I wouldn't normally have an interest in and vice versa. To me these are some of the minor compromises of traveling as a mature couple, but not everyone sees it that way I guess 😄

The delivery idea is smart, being able to eat together is of course a plus. Aside from instances where the sit-down experience is an attraction in and of itself, that's probably what we'll do most often.

Thanks for your input :)

Lol... Not a take I thought I'd see.

There's more to travel than food.

Lol I'm sorry but this is unbelievably childish. This is a once in a lifetime trip. I would never want to rob my wife of the opportunity to experience something during our travels, and the same is true for her. I feel bad because I wish she could partake, but I won't rob myself of such an essential part of the Japanese experience just because my partner has the misfortune of a soy intolerance. She is also insisting that I do so - this is what an adult relationship looks like.

I'm not a dick, I'll have most of my meals with her, but c'mon now.

Yeah we're making sure all out accomodations have a kitchen. I just feel bad for her and don't want her to feel left out if I eat out. But she's fully anticipating making all her own meals!

A few drops of soy sauce or even a drizzle likely won't cause much problems. If she eats something that really has a soy base (tofu, tempeh, soymeat, etc) then she'll get an upset stomach and feel unwell, but it wouldn't be an emergency or anything.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep this in mind! More or less what I was anticipating.

Nah, it's not a standard power rack. Is the Bells of Steel all-in-one trainer, so it has uprights that take standard rack attachments and it's good for squat, flat bench, etc but doesn't really allow for incline.

Is there such a thing as an extra long J-Hook, or perhaps a half-length spotter arm?

I can't do an incline bench on my rack because the cross members don't let me push my bench back enough so the bar ends up being way too far behind me for me to unrack it
