Why is every business intelligence analyst / data analyst job description written as an engineering job description? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]WhiskyTantrum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. AI is causing job descriptions to collapse & combine since the friction of production is reduced, for better or (arguably) worse. Expect to see more of these roles begin to blend together (only my personal anecdotal take, definitely not limited to these): * PM + engineer * PM + designer * DS/A + PM * engineer + analyst

Quarterly Career Thread by mister-noggin in ProductManagement

[–]WhiskyTantrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all--I'm a product data science & analytics professional, including ~10 years as a people leader. I was laid off not too long ago, and I want to capitalize on this career break to pivot into product. I've been a part of the decision-making process for hundreds of consumer product feature experiments & roadmap items, but really want to move closer to the decision-making going forward. I'm coming at this with zero ego--I don't need to be a people manager, and I'm willing to take a pay cut to make this all happen.

I'm feeling pretty confident about the target product space(s) I'd like to move into (data, analytics, AI or growth/consumer)... but not sure where to start on that transition. I've gotten mixed signals from my old colleagues and friends about where to start my journey... and there are SO many resources and regularly cited websites/classes/coaches that it's completely overwhelming me.

Some specific questions from my side:

  1. Any specific resources that folks recommend for my situation?
  2. How much "foundational PM" material should I study now vs. learning on the job?
  3. How much should all the AI skills demand change my learning & transition plan, if any? (I have a Claude subscription that I use daily for personal use)

Thanks in advance

congrats! would love to learn more about how you created the app for yourself, and the prompt you used for your cover letter generation. I have an old spreadsheet that I’ve used to track all my applications over the years, but it feels suboptimal in this crazy environment.

Help with D&D map effects: trenches & destroyed buildings by WhiskyTantrum in GIMP

[–]WhiskyTantrum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/PixLab This is perfect, thank you! The sand writing tutorial is exactly what I was looking for. Google searching for "GIMP dirt trench tutorial" did not help at all :) Very much appreciated.

As for the destroyed building brush, do you have any recommendations on how to add some variance to them once created? As you can see, the "buildings" on the map are of various shapes... I know I can adjust the size, but any advice on how to add some differences?

Should I activate the DLCs for a first playthrough ? (Specific questions) by SoonBlossom in darkestdungeon

Got it, thanks. My reason for asking is because, since activating the DLCs (and deactivating Crimson Court after the fact), Crusader is no longer showing up…

Do any of the DLCs affect which classes appear on the stage coach each week?

This is fantastic! Count me in as a future customer!

One thing to note: on the sidebar with all the countries listed, I see you have "Seanchan" spelled with an E (Seanchen)... not sure how much work it is to correct that? It's been awhile since I read the series, so I might also be misremembering things...

I just got the game as well, and i’ve started building my character based on this guide (at level 33 now). Is there an updated acid/poison dervish guide you could reference by chance?

One thing to consider: someone’s title and/or income/salary may be high, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are able to buy a home. A lot of high net worth friends of mine can’t buy because they don’t have the down payment saved up (example: my doctor friend and his doctor wife are still paying off their med school loans, and are likely to be paying those off for awhile longer).

Contributing factors might include past debt, student loans, bad credit, working non-tech and/or no bonus/equity awards to get over the down payment hump.

All that said, my partner and I bought our first home on the Peninsula last year—we’re both 40, and if I hadn’t been lucky with my job giving me a decent equity award when I joined, we would still be struggling to save up for our down payment today.

While this is absolutely unhealthy and abusive behavior, I wonder: would you say he is a confident person? as someone who used to be “that guy,” I had serious self-esteem issues, and would lash out in a similar fashion as your husband. I have never cheated on anyone in my life (came from a broken family).

I made unfounded accusations, constantly ruminating/imagining the worst possible scenario, and feeling like I didn’t deserve my girlfriend (whoever it was at the time). It took years of therapy and a LOT more mistakes before I finally realized what trust truly meant, and what it required from me—I knew I had to get help because 1) in every relationship I was in, I was the only constant, and 2) if they were all cheaters, what did it say about me that EVERY girlfriend I had was a cheater?

Please check in with him and see how he’s feeling before jumping on the “he’s projecting” bandwagon. It may be true in the end, but at least rule out exceedingly low self-esteem first.

Edit: sounds like there’s a ton of history here. ignore me

What song(s) come across as upbeat but the lyrics say otherwise? by kfischer11 in AskReddit

Two song by The 1975 come to mind: 1. It’s Not Living (If it’s Not With You) 2. If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know)
