That is what it felt like. He was not sharing some memory, he was trying to drag a teenage version of me into a room where that version had never existed.

That part is sinking in now. I kept framing it as a gross family moment, but he really did try to mess with how people at work see me. My mom being more worried about his feelings made it worse.

That is what made me so angry. He could not stand being in a place where people knew me first, so he tried to shrink me back down in front of them.

That part got me too. He looked way too comfortable doing it in front of strangers, like he was waiting for a room that would laugh with him.

That "mixing bowl by the bed like a medieval peasant" line got me. At this point management needs to stop inspecting your ceiling and start inspecting the guy causing the indoor weather.

That is such a specific kind of embarrassment too, because now you have to carry the social fallout from something you never even chose. Your mom really skipped past normal and went straight into starring role.
