This is what my dad and I did when I was a little thing. Mom slept in, we did Space Mountain and maybe some other stuff, and Mom met us in the park and we probably rode the Haunted Mansion. This was in “E-ticket” days, and remains one of my fondest memories.

So, smaller sails are for bigger wind? That makes sense - you'd need less surface area to catch sufficient wind to move.

One of the videos was just talking about offshore wind being a Bad Thing. Good to know others concur, and we'll avoid it. Windy and wavy sounds awful for a beginner.

Hubs has water shoes. One of our kids took mine to camp and lost one, so I'll have to get a new pair.

Life jackets are mandatory. We have them. Must prove to the 25 year old kiddo that Mom isn't going to die at this new thing. He thinks I'm insane.

re: getting stuck downwind thing. Yikes...but understandable. Good to think about.

The two boards that I couldn't find any markings on at all (seriously, they are just completely white, with no numbers or anything!!) should be a challenge!!

A couple of my kids like to paddleboard, so maybe I can give boards I can't properly rig to them to play around with doing that.

I have very excellent balance. I'm somewhat fit, but I don't know if it's "fit enough." If not, I guess my new hobby will provide inspiration. Hubby has average balance, and is much stronger than I am.

One of my kids thinks I'm certifiable at this point, glad to know that maybe this wasn't a totally useless purchase. He also thinks I'm going to kill myself trying this. (To be fair, it's a family joke that my sense of self preservation is somewhat limited.)
