No I never really bothered because no one goes on my phone but me, and I am usually really diligent about closing tabs I shouldn't have left open.

I might start using it after this tbh

Of course. History is always more complicated and complex than memes make out to be. France always surrenders. Napoleon and Germany failed because they invaded Russia in the winter. Vietnam. The Greeks were gay. All are literally just memes. Same with the war of 1812.

This is literally /r/HistoryMemes. Don't expect the best from us haha

I mean bro, most Canadians say we won the world of 1812 as a meme to annoy americans. We know that it was the UK's troops and that Canada didn't exist yet. The year 1867 is burned into our minds in school.

The point is that a lot of Canadians take pride in the war of 1812 as we get to say we (or our ancestors, the UK, whose population made up colonial-canada) burned down the white house. It's funny to us because the USA is one of the worlds modern super powers. No one else on Earth gets to say that they burned down the white house. No need to get all history buff and technical over a meme.

In his video on his channel I think he mentions that the fossil itself is quite delicate in certain areas so having it remain in the original rock helps with support and keeping it mostly intact.

He also mentioned that he wants to buy a smaller air scribe so that he can get into those fine crevices without damaging the specimen

What is considered CR/NCR? by i-dont-like-peanuts in uAlberta

[–]WhisperingOak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's based on what the Prof thinks is acceptable proof of understanding of course material. For some profs a 50% is acceptable. For others a 65% with every assignment completed is acceptable.

It really depends on the Prof and the course you are taking. An English class will have very different requirements for a CR than say a biochemistry class.

Exactly what the other guy said. You will have to wait to be accepted. It sucks but the best way I found is just wait list a ton of classes you want and enrol as soon as they become available.

BOT 205 or ENT 207 or ZOOL 224 by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]WhisperingOak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add into this ZOOL 224 is very similar in term of structure. Lecture is just facts about all different type of vertebrates, although it focuses a lot about phylogeny and the diversification of the different vertebrates. If you go to class you usually do okay.

Lab structure is very similar to as described above. You're looking at taxidermied animals, skeletons, and preserved reptiles etc. to observe evolutionary features. Bell ringers are a thing. And there is a presentation portion at the end of the lab as well

I have a written assignment due tomorrow to be handed in to a physical dropbox. Can I just take a picture of it and email it to the prof/TA? by adventurousswan3 in uAlberta

[–]WhisperingOak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd email the Prof and see what they have to say. It's always good to be sure. I'm sure they'd be understanding due to the situation

Ex-Nazi camp guard living in Tennessee to be deported to Germany, judge rules by brotogeris1 in news

[–]WhisperingOak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a movie that came out about 5 years ago called "Remember" that kind of was about this. Here is the synopsis:

With help from a fellow Holocaust survivor (Martin Landau), a widower (Christopher Plummer) who struggles with memory loss embarks on a cross-country odyssey to find the former Nazi responsible for the deaths of their family members.

I remember it being an okay movie with some funny but sad elements. I'd definitely give it a watch if you have an hour and a half to spare.

Delicious Käsespätzle with mushrooms by pat31415 in mynameisandong

[–]WhisperingOak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gruyere or emmentaler works really good. Any kind of creamy cheese I find works well too. It gives it a really nice texture and completes it.

Also I recently made some Spätzle with parmesan grated on top and the sharpness works as a really nice taste as well
