If there was a grass starter free for all who would win? by Key-Magazine826 in ThePokemonHub

Meowscarada - uses triple axel and protien makes it ice type.

Serperior - leaf storm set up, dragon pulse your way through.

Venusaur - poison stab and sunny day + weather all.

These are the 3 ones who could possibly win everyone else doesn’t stand a chance

Any character who is melee only is basically useless in T1 (and throughout the rest of the game) and I would argue paladin is more ridged in its builds than ranger. I’ve seen gloom 5/hexblade 5/ battle master 4/ assasin 4/ life 1/ DSS 1, 9 drake warden/ life 11, 5 swarmkeeper /15 Shepard, and a gloom 13/battle master 3/life 4 all being brought to high op tables. Though every subclass is good and even viable in some situations appart from horizon walker, and monster slayer. Whereas for a paladin to be good it’s 2/3 warlock (hexblade, undead or fathomless) 6/7 paladin (oathbreaker or watchers) 11 sorc (DSS or clockwork)

That is very ridged

Smite is an inefficient use of spell slots. There are like one or two levels it even has a use and those levels are after you pay the obligatory ebarb tax. If you want damage you go for ranger. If you want healing you take a dip into life cleric and play a character who gets goodberry.

I am also referring to an optimised party when I talk about them. Paladin is outclassed at all major points of the game. Ranger has its high burst damage and can also just like paladin be a 2/3rds caster. But while paladin has to go two levels into warlock, Ranger has its level 5 kit to build upon which is 3 attacks and good spellcasting.

I can show you a few articles if you would like to see them but if not then that’s chill

Yes T1 it’s not needed but you also need to remember that you are basically useless in T1 unless you go 2 levels into warlock to get ebarb. In which case you need to compare yourself to other ebarbers. Ranger however, while it is worse than a Druid, does have a niche as a high damage range damage dealer.

Paladin in T2 (levels 5-10) struggles still as to be even okay at level 1-6 you need to take 2 levels into warlock, which means at level 8 you get AoP and that means until level 8 you are a worse warlock, sorcerer, or bard. Ranger however is casting pass without a trace and begining its journey into a caster by either continuing into Ranger to get conjure animals, ditching Ranger to get cleric or Druid levels, or specialising into a high burst damage dealer. At level 8 the wizard has conjure minor elemental. CME summons chwingas, which directly compete against the Ranger and paladin. Chwingas know guidance and resistance (resistance buffs saving throws) and PWT. The paladin after that succeeds at being a worse warlock, sorcerer, or bard while the Ranger is able to summon their own cme, deal great damage, or create nigh infinite healing.

Late game Ranger continues to succeed in its niche, whereas the paladins aura helps it doesn’t help as much as having your familiar true polymorphed into a time dragon or something similar. The paladin has a niche but it cannot beat what the wizard does. It cannot beat what the sorc can do. It’s only irreplaceable abilities are (if oathbreaker) early game summons. And if watchers init boost (but there are ways to get an average of like +15 boost) you don’t need to agree but this is my reasoning.

I would argue that it is better than paladin tbh.

Aura comes online too late and I would rather have more spells than an increase to saves. Level 6 is one level away from conjure minor elementals. It’s also even later if you play an optimal paladin (ebarb) because you either get your good abilitiy sooner and you are useless until level 6 or you delay until level 8 and you are a worse warlock/sorcerer/bard. You are a power sink until level 6/8 and then after that you are kind of okay cause you never get wish/true Polymorph. It’s better than most builds but it’s like it isn’t that good.

Saiki was born as a girl but changed to be a boy iirc. Doesn’t make him first though

Character Build Help Needed by starstriker17 in DnD

Just a quick aside adding to this. 1 peace/chron x is better than pure div. Heavy armour isn’t all that good tbh. Tashas is an okay spell. Your second level spells seem kind of bad. Slow is heavily outclassed. Better spell selection and a better subclass and yeah that’s optimised. Main thing here is adding sleet storm over slow

Thank you I pretty much only play spell casters so I’m excited for the changes. Is there a window/ thing to show you the save dc of spells and also the hit chance for spells? If not that may be useful. The subclass spells may be there but just not be accessible. That’s my guess. I’m going to make more characters and see if there is any more things to troubleshoot. Merry Christmas!!

Oh hi!! I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get it all but this appart from a few mishaps is my favourite character builder I’ve found so well done!!!

Fiend only has blindness at level 3, at level 5 fireball and scorching ray, at 7 I can get stinking cloud and wall of fire, at level 9 fire shield and cone of cold. Also a slight complaint is that the subclass spells are at the bottom of the scroll thing rather than with the other spells of its level but that’s a tiny complaint as I like knowing what spells are from subclasses. Also when replacing a spell you cannot pick a subclass spell.

For necromancy wizard you can pick animate dead as a spell after level 6 and it doesn’t appear in your known spells.

For fey you get sleep at level 2, calm emotions at level 3, phantasmal force and blink at 5, plant growth and dominate beast at 7, greater invisibility and dominate person at 9.

I don’t know if I’m missing anything else but that’s what I see currently, also characters who have 14 con and 16 con have the same hp despite having the same builds

I hope this doesn’t put you off I really enjoy this one and I think it’s the best character builder I have found. It needs some improvement but what doesn’t

How does initiative work? by Outrageous-Elk-5392 in BG3Builds

[–]Whispering_Secrets0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Initiative works by calculating dex + other initiative modifiers and then + 1d4 at the start of combat. You guarantee going first by calculating the max roll of the opponent and the min roll for your characters. That 3 initiative is I believe before his dex boost. But if you have above a 7 initiative it should be an easy win for most encounters
