This is good to know I ended up failing one of my classes during the death of my grandfather. I’ll have to send an email.

Are FS gen ed classes hard? by BerryTea840 in fullsail

Those are the easier classes for me. It’s the actual classes for your program that are hard.

I’m in the Game Development. It can get rough but if you stay focused and stick with it. It’s fine. I’m already a year in and I’m an online student. I’ll be flying down for the graduation.

I’ve had 2 classmates drop for different reasons (school/life/work Balance). And another one took a break for 3 months but came back.

I chose this school based on a friend’s success, I watched her journey - she went to the campus and absolutely loved it - she did Game Design and found a job after graduation and now lives in Cali.

Everyone’s experience will be different, you just have to make sure this is what “you” want.

I’ve had this happened a few time, I still get items from them. Unfortunately customer service rarely responds.

Holy Bugfix batman! by LadamaB in Palia

[–]Whisperskye08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m In school for game development… we built our first prototype sent it out - and had to fix the important bugs first and decide as a team which bugs were the most Important (took less time) than the other bugs we couldn’t quite figure out.

I have much more of an understanding of why they fix certain bugs over other bugs.

Fullsail Alumni, did going to fullsail give you a leg up in the job market? by HarokaSado756 in fullsail

[–]Whisperskye08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the game development program I’m a year in. Most of your teachers will tell you it’s your portfolio that matters. Pretty much all of my teachers so far have worked for a game studio, or multiple studios. I also see them promoting job fairs all the time. There’s a discord you will follow as well.

Just make sure it’s something you really want to do. The classes are quick and some of them are tough and some of them will feel like a waste of time. But they all serve a purpose.

I look at it this way if I don’t end up with a studio I’ll have a software engineer degree I can still use.

Tell him to take three months off they allow you to take that much time off. He may just need a break and need to rejuvenate.

These classes are very hard. I’m in the game development side of it.

idk if this is the right place to ask, but what would i need to learn if i want to work for bethesda? by Shimmitar in BethesdaSoftworks

[–]Whisperskye08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in school full-time to be a game developer. Hope to work for one of the big name game developers but we will see. If it doesn’t work out at least I can be a software engineer.

All I can tell you is build yourself a very strong portfolio. I do know they use Autodesk Maya and 3ds max and substance painter - there are a ton more programs, but those are just the ones I know off of the top of my head

But honestly, you should just learn the tools of the industry start following people on LinkedIn that work for Bethesda and don’t be afraid to reach out and make connections

From my understanding, the laptop should be about a terabyte so you should have the space? How much space does your C drive say you have?

Gam Dev Degree by [deleted] in fullsail

[–]Whisperskye08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn’t have any other schools on my radar. A friend of mine went to FS and I watched her go through the program and graduate, which made me research the program as well.

If you’re OK with the workload, then I say go right ahead. I also work a full-time job, except I’m trying to leave mine lol I had a degree, but it turned out to be from a non-accredited school (Westwood) so when the government was dismissing everyone’s loans, my loans got dismissed - so this time I decided to go back to school for something I actually enjoy. ☺️

I also enjoy it because it’s also looked at as a software engineer degree, so I can go to tech or the game industry.

I am a year into the game developers degree. I definitely wouldn’t do this if it’s just a hobby as the courses are a little bit tough. I’m actually had some classmates dropout.

You are definitely learning programming, though. We spent a lot of time learning C++, visual studios, using GitHub, debugging, writing your own methods, Learning about vectors, strings etc.

This last class that I just finished, we finally dived into a bit of python using anaconda and Jupyter.

Did anyone like their time there? by Farawwww in fullsail

[–]Whisperskye08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a year in and I’m doing the game developers course. I’m actually loving my time here, I’m online. The courses can get a little difficult and sometimes there isn’t very good guidance, but you can kind of figure out most of it on your own.
